We did that before, it did not work. @Dick Plumb1 have very different views on moderating, we are incompatible. I guess the only way to put this matter to bed is to poll members on who they want to moderate this forum. I'll set that up such a poll in a few hours. It will be a straight decision between myself of @Dick Plumb1 This time the decision will be final. Should members prefer Dick to moderate, I will step down permanently and not take the task on again.
A poll like that could finish the forum. I've been quite happy with the job you do, but would not vote, as you are both valued members of the forum. None of the regular posters have complained until a few weeks ago when the onslaught began. The position is yours, but if you do decide it's not worth the hassle I hope you stay, and keep contributing.
You're right. And it's time I faced up to something I have been avoiding for a while now. I'm not well enough to do this job anymore. I'm too ill to go to most games now, despite buying a season ticket in the Summer when I was hoping to feel better. So I'm going to save everyone the trouble of going through another poll and step down as moderator. I've just been stress-tested in effect, and I have failed. I'll recommend to @brb that he appoints @Dick Plumb1 to the position.
I am not sure a poll is a good idea. But it is important to listen to what the regulars want. This forum has got away from what it should be about. All things Charlton Athletic, this has been driven by you @lardiman I said ages ago about all the political and other threads that were open. I said it wasn’t a good idea and I have been proved right. I think we should return to our core subject which is our love of Charlton Athletic Football Club.
Not sure why you keep ignoring the fact that it’s not your posts that are being moved about & censured. Thanks to @lardiman for his work & I hope he continues posting as a valued member.
By the way, I will be staying around to continue to contribute what I can to this forum as a regular member
Four threads to delete today - Good news Bad news Political postings Current affairs They just cause arguments & antagonism. No othet 606 forum has them.
Just to clarify, I don't have the ability to remove myself as moderator or appoint anyone else. That power rests solely with @brb and other senior global mods. If @brb is busy or not online it may take a while for the transfer to be done. Sorry, but I have no control over that. I did say in my message to him that I was stepping down on health grounds, which is the truth. All other recent things considered, the timing seems appropriate now.
None of my business, but If you think that don't ever visit the Leeds or Sunderland boards. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
If you want me to lock or delete any threads while you're waiting for the mod status transfer, just let me know. Up to you though, no particular need to rush things I guess.
