I was in The Sir John Oldcastle on Farringdon Road a couple of weeks ago and a pint was £4.54 and when I went in the same place a week ago for breakfast it was £6.99 for the Traditional Breakfast; both more than I would pay in ‘Ull. That one did not survive the day... I find it quite funny how many experts on railway travel have suddenly come out of the woodwork claiming that Huntingdon trains have been terrible for years. Amazingly the stabbings happened on the East Coast mainline between Peterborough and London on an LNER train that was not going anywhere near Huntingdon until the police ordered it to be diverted there so that they could stop it. One black British guy charged and it would seem that he was allowed to get on the train with a big knife because the Communist rail unions need to have more of their members on every train (presumably being paid danger money and wearing stab vests paid for by taxpayers) as that would prevent this sort of thing from happening.
Defence Secretary John Healey was doing the rounds yesterday telling any fool that cared to listen that the government was spending £9bn doing up MOD housing. No mention of where this £9bn was coming from so it was probably the magic money tree like all their other “fully costed and fully funded” spending. However, if they are supposed to be closing all the 4 star hotels full of illegal immigrants and moving them to military bases how is that going to work? Are they spending £9bn on housing for our armed forces or for illegal immigrants? Surely once the four star hotels are empty they can move our armed forces into the hotels as they are generally British and they pay taxes whilst the illegal immigrants can stay at the camps until we can fly them all back home with £500 spending money to finance their next effort to get here.
