It’s funny how so many of these possession teams have great stats that suggest they should be winning loads of games but they all struggle to score goals and grind out results. There is a bit of a theme there.
Like Amir khan doing well against Canelo but doesn’t matter because he got flatlined, same principle with all these philosophy sides.
Probably explains why selles keeps getting jobs Bullshits his way through a power point just omits the last slide
Wonder what Selles' PowerPoint looks like? I'm going for text within a star shape that comes spinning in from the left, pulses five times, then settles in the centre of the screen, accompanied by a swanee whistle sound. One will say BEAT SHEFF UTD AWAY!!!! 3-0!!!! Another BEAT PROMOTED SUNDERLAND AWAY!!!!! And finally KEPT HULL FC UP ON FINAL DAY!!!! All slides superimposed over a photo of him grinning manically.
It's very clearly not. If all that matters is points then Rosenior wouldn't have been stacked. Style of play, goals scored, pace, aggression, tempo, chances created, etc. All play a part in these decisions.
This is similar to what I’d have imagined too. If I ever win the lottery I’ll buy a club and make sure to give him an interview to find out.
Surely this came down to a lack of points on the board, we did sign Fabio Carvalho and Zaroury in the January and failed to do anything
I noticed against Norwich them dicking about with the goalkeeper and splitting the centre backs at 1-0 with 5 mins to go. I was a relief that we don’t have to endure the same currently as we have seen all too much
Maybe they had to do that because kicking their goal kicks long against us was too dangerous, as they found just after half time when they punted one and Gelhardt scored 5 seconds later.
Thats strange then as Acun claimed it had nothing to do with missing the play offs and was due to style of play.
It’s not so much the possession aspect but the rigid adherence to positionism. When we beat Southampton at home this season, they dominated possession and you could see patterns of play and some nice passing sequences that were easy on the eye but there was nobody willing to take a risk in the final third. All fart, no ****. City on the other hand hit them on the counter when possible and that’s why we won 3-1. If a team is instructed to play meticulous football where nobody has freedom to take risks for fear of losing the ball then football just becomes a boring game.
i also wonder though, when a club has such a bad season like southampton did last year how much of a general malaise and general fear there is amongst the players and around the club
