Wow Glossed over much Just confirmed that de ligt was looked at for obstruction of the GKs view but because it was not deliberate it was judged to stand Wtf when did that come in I thought it off the cam from the net and when it was replaying it got cut what I have just written is from the lady on goal rush talking to pundits in studio
I'll be honest, I thought this game was over after 10 minutes, but well done West Ham. Chocolate wrists Pope, though.
That's the players they have. Capable of being world beaters one game and then anonymous the next. Gordon, Barnes, Elanga, Murphy, Willock, there's a reason they either failed at the big clubs or the big clubs are hesitant to pay big for them, consistency. I'd also include Tonali and Bruno G in that, but they do show that little bit more that will probably see them move eventually. Joelinton is just a yard dog who goes around smashing people.
If the referee gave him the multiple red cards he’s deserved he might be a different player , but they just let him carry on and carry on
They didn`t lose him, they got a rediculouse amount of money for him. Great business because the man had downed tools and has not bothered to pick them up again since.
C'mon, Diego - you can do better than that. But yeah, AS 90% OF THIS BOARD SAID AT THE TIME, we've overpaid @£50m for Isak. No arguments. We could have got Guehi and Semenyo for that money. And we've overpaid even more for Wirtz, who was billed as some sort of Coutinho/Modric cross, and looks more like another Bruno Cheyrou/Smicer hybrid.
Wasn`t really having a go, we are in no position to do that after the money we have spent over the years on far bigger duds EDIT...........Even that was wrong because i can`t really call Isak a dud when he has had no real chance yet.
Jeez , the lad has had 10 games in a new country and is only 22. I mean there's brutal and then there's whatever that was, give him some time at least.
Isak is no dud, and never will be. He'll just never be worth £130m. But, and I'm sure you know my history of slagging FSG off, we paid the money, albeit £50m over the odds. Wirtz worries me more for that astronomical amount, but Roger is right - that was far too harsh a comparison. I'm perplexed, though, how a player whose touch and sublime short-passing in the Bundesliga has now deserted him, and he can't be trusted to deliver a basic 10-yard ball that even Jay Spearing could pull off in diving boots and blindfolded.
TBF the PL is a lot faster than the BL in general and it will take some tiome to get used to, Some never do.
Genuinely don't understand anyone criticising Wirtz. He's a quality player and he's shown glimpses of what he can do, he just needs to settle and find his place in the side before the consistency comes. People focus on end stats too much.
Its patience. There is none any more. If any player isn't an insta success there's massive abuse and it follows the player then no matter what they do. Wirtz fee adds to this impatience for instant success. An example of this is havertz. He joined Chelsea "for the money" His best season for chelsea yielded 14 goals in 47 games. He moves to arsenal and delivers similar performance for 2 seasons. But one of those seasons had a serious injury so he was on good form but his Chelsea time defined him as being a flop so anything he did for arsenal didnt matter. I'm sure other examples of players exist all over the place. Kdb left Chelsea to wolfburg.and came back and was the best premier league player for a long time. The obvious flop is werner but there's far bigger issues with his attitude and confidence. Every player will be different. Writing off wirtz before he proves his mentality and ability is pure impatience imo.
It's all good, ignore the noise. Slot has rightly taken him out of the limelight for now and will find the right intro times and games to help him. Everything is under the microscope at this level so expected as much tbh, I'm certain he'll be a big part of our next 5 years.
