Football must be unique. The chairman with zero football experience decides who comes and goes from a club , leaving the manager to get on with things.

Newcastle have probably three really attractive transfer targets in their team. Tiote,Krul and Shola ( just making sure your still awake!!!) , I mean Cabaye.

Oh and by the way, the decision to sell them- if they are sold that is nothing to do with Pardew. It's Ashley who negotiates transfers at SJP, Alan merely does what he is told, gets on with it and does his best with what he is given.

But consider this. How often can we unearth a Tiote or a Cabaye? Not very often. And I'm confused, why is Pardew spouting off about Tiote...........surely he should be saying " he's not for sale. Period".

Spurs did this with Modric ( remember that little sh*t getting the red carpet treatment at SJP?).

Selling is merely rolling the dice of success instead of building on it.

Here's hoping Ashley has enough sense to do the latter.

What on earth is the point of Pardew saying "Tiote's not for sale at any price" after what happened with Carroll? And it's not Pardew's fault that Ashley controls transfers, that's the way football works.

He's not saying "Tiote isn't for sale. Period", because this is what he said about Carroll and we all know how that turned out. He knows that essentially it's not down to him and if a massive bid were to come in, then he would be sold. It would be foolish of Pardew to make assurances about Tiote he knows he can't keep.

Source? How do you know Pardew has nothing to do with transfers?

Taken from Secret Ingredient's post in which Pardew says Ashley asked him when he was going to get a new CB in.

Pardew doesn't negotiate the transfers for good reason - his area isn't finances.

And the way our transfers work is the scouts, coaches and Pardew find targets and Pardew submits the players he wants to Llambias and Ashley, who do what they can (or are willing to do) to get the player in.

He was in Newcastle ready to sign when an envelope full of cash landed on the lap of his agent. Inside was a note that said "Come and see 'Arry with Modric and there is more of this".

They're Ashley's staff, it's his business, so he has the last say on who comes and goes. Unfortunately.

Holystone seems to be shocked that Alan Pardew doesn't control the club's finances.

Basically, our main man for incoming transfers is Graham Carr.

I'd imagine he scouts out say, 10-20 players, shows them to Pardew, who looks at which ones he think will improve the team. The list will be narrowed down to say 5 or 6 and then passed on to Ashley, who will decide whether he is willing to pay the price. If he is, and the other team are willing to sell, a team of negotiators will go to the club in question and try and haggle for the best deal, which sometimes works (Tiote, Cabaye) and sometimes doesn't (Maiga, Pieters).

If an offer is made for one of our players, Pardew can beg and plead all he likes, if Ashley is going to sell, he will. Dunno why people believe the Football Manager view of the world, where Pardew phones another manager and agrees to pay £so much over the phone, or clicks a button on his computer to reject a transfer offer. It's not his money!

I detect sarcasm, but you'd be surprised at how many people assume this is how it works

Pardew should put out a bluff.

Following Tiote's injury during a training session in which he broke his leg in seven places, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew looks set to cash in on Cheik Tiote who has attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd.

"When he first joined the club he made an immediate impact but something in him has changed. His attitude has worsened of late and becoming wheelchair-bound has made the decision to allow him to move on much easier," admitted a suspiciously cheerful Pardew.

The club are believed to be open to the previous offers of approximately £20m for their injured, foul-tempered midfielder and already have a replacement lined up.

"Basically what I'm saying is Tiote is **** now so of course we're going to cash in!"
