Off to watch Ben play an under 10 match this morning. Absolute guarantee it will be far more enjoyable than that pl garbage we are being subjected to weekly. I feared this season would be an awful watch but it has even exceeded my expectations. I’m booked to travel over twice in next eight weeks and it feels like a penance
Agree totally and if I’m being honest I think I’ll draw a line in the travelling over after January for the season. Far too much money with no end product to watch
Best game I watched yesterday was my local team Chelmsford City beat local rivals Braintree 4-1 to progress to the FA cup 2nd round. Proper football. Chelmsford’s been in the news lately for the wrong reasons after inexplicably letting the migrant ***** out of prison. So it’s nice to be in the news for the right reasons for a change.
For some reason, I always thought you were more Billericay or Dagenham. Lived just outside (Thaxted side) Dunmow and worked there for years, Chelmsford was always the shopping destination. Not been that way for probably 20 years but I gather it has changed a lot in that time?
Love watching u11s football, part of my Sunday routine. Remarkable amount of dickhead managers and parents kicking off at teenage referees (guess it readies them for a career of abuse), but the games are great.
Whenever I head into the country that way (Thaxted usually, sometimes Dunmow) it always makes me think I've gone back to the 1950s, especially when I pass that vintage Rolls Royce garage up the road... Dunmow has massivley expanded, big Tesco and housing on the west side now.
I still go to Dunmow, my mum lives there. The Rolls Royce garage you mention is P&A Wood at Great Easton. I lived there (the village not the garage) and then Duton Hill (on the way to Thaxted from Great Easton). Got divorced and married again to Bens mum who is from Thaxted and we have moved out towards Bury St Edmunds and love it
Not changed too much in the last 20 years Marcos. In fact it’s an oasis of tranquility compared to some parts of the country Re Billericay that’s Leeds of London and I think Blono is Dagenham.
