I think everybody is forgetting that results on the pitch is an outdated and poor way of judging a clubs performance. At least we have a crazy golf course at the ground now and some golf/racing simulators.
We'll keep Still andbumble about with the occasion win every 6 or 7 games with enough points to be in and around the relegation pack. I admire your optimism. I think the players are stealing a living. No leaders, no effort, no respect for fans or manager. Inexperienced manager, inept support systems. Perfect storm for another relegation. We are Luton.
In years to come it will be "Hey fancy a game of crazy golf and a go on the racing simulators?" "Not today, I think they are closed for some special event - some weird thing where loads of people get angry and boo all the time"
Can’t imagine any reaction from SR in the coming days, it will be head in sand as normal. No apologies to the long suffering fans etc, as it’s ok to have just 2 home league wins in a calendar year, and 1 league win in our last 20 home games. I heard a couple of guys chatting after the game that they don’t get the abuse aimed at SR as they’ve invested in the club etc. I guess they were of the play crazy golf after having a burger and beer in the Dell Bar, and listen to some live music in The Northam Zone??
The annoying thing is they have actually invested but they just constantly try to be too clever. I'm hoping Spors stays - yes the Still appointment is **** but at least he looked to bring in proven championship talent. They do some stuff very well, such as getting top dollar for selling players and identifying young prospects has been strong too with the likes of Lavia, Livramento, Charles & Fernandes. It's just the constant trying to be too clever which ruins it. Signing those young talents is great but you need experience too. Same with the managers, go for someone with experience in this division rather than a young up-and-comer. The signing of Azaz and Fellows suggests Spors may be better at this so I'm really hoping he learns from the Still mistake.
It really pisses me off that the modern footballer can just call the shots. Don't like the manager, play in a way that makes us look ****e knowing that the players will stay and the manager will change. It's piss poor really. Yes the tactics may be odd at times and the subs too but is that something to do with the trust Still has with certain players? If players had some beef with me, it would be hard to trust them out there, knowing that they want me gone so will play poorly for just long enough to get me gone....never mind the paying fans! Makes my blood boil! Maybe the players need to be part of the recruitment panel when the manager is being decided, **** it put them on the board for all the big decisions and let them pick the team while we are at it!
Probably isn't true but just seen this on TUI: "Sorry to say I think it is going to get a bit worse soon. Rumours abound that SR are in a bit of trouble financially and that we may be put into admin if we cannot sell. Sounds unbelievable I know, but Dragan is not in a good place and has been trying to sell for a while. Behind the scenes there is a lot more going on than most of us know. This is why the club is so weak and the team is so useless and depressed."
Doesn't surprise me at all, if true. Werent there rumours in the summer that Dragan had put the feelers out? I know he went on to deny them, but he would do if he's "not open to a sale" as it were.
I asked this recently but can't remember if anyone answered (apologies if somebody did!) but didn't something happen with his company in the Summer? I think there definitely rumours of him putting feelers out, but for investment rather than a sale iirc.
That's the one, cheers. He said at the time it wouldn't affect Saints but he obviously would say that as if he was looking to sell it'd drive the price down. I find it hard to believe it's as bad as that person has made out though as I doubt we'd have spent what we did in the Summer if so.
No idea if it’s true or not, seems unlikely but it’s believable because it fits in with lots of things we’ve heard I.e rumours in the summer about a sale, Solak saying he’d be happy to have new investors, stuff with his other business ventures have gone to **** for him? We can also see that things are deeply not right at the club, although in what form who knows. Although not sure we’d spend £50m in the summer on players or continually spend on things like the new entertainment thing at the ground if that were the case. And why that would impact the players to be such wet ****s I don’t know. Sheff Weds barely had any players and they weren’t getting paid and they still had more fight.
We need a man manager who has discipline and can motivate players out of a slump. One of the old dinosaur types: cooper warnock Pulis fat Sam Dyche. They’re not trendy but will steady the ship and rescue this season. It just shows how far we’ve fallen: in the Poch Koeman and early Ralph years I would have been appalled if we signed one of these. After 3 and a bit seasons of SR we’re crying out for a sensible, bland appointment.
Weird one this. On the off field stuff sports republic are doing all the right things. On field stuff is another matter entirely
I imagine we were closer to "administration" during the years Gao was here (and we were in the PL the whole time) then we are now under Solak, and in the Championship. No idea where that's come from.
