There’s a video of Spence and van de Ven walking past Frank after the final whistle. Frank seems to say or gesture something to them and van de Ven seemingly ignores him and Spence seems to say something back in frustration. Not a good look, both players were extremely poor today too.
Well the weed is doing wonders and there ain’t many problems in the world a Kofta kebab on a Naan with fries, salad, chilli sauce and mint yoghurt can’t sort out tbh on a bit of a health awareness vibe so opted for water
So a major "stabbing incident" on a train near Huntingdon means everything cancelled at Kings X so had to hot foot it across to St Pancras and catch the milk train to Nottingham. Then just heard thatbthe buses are all up the creek so unable to retrieve car from where it's parked tonight. Hopefully get home before dawn but just caps the perfect day. It can only be better tomorrow....
Frank didn't look or sound impressed in his post match interviews. Simmons needs to be out of the starting line up and if on the bench should only be bought on with 10 -20 mins left if at all. He has no confidence in himself or his team mates. I think that Kuluchevski returning will massively help us going forward and the need for January signings who can immediately improve us has already been made on the pitch.
The sense of confusion on the pitch was rife throughout the team. Vicario made some saves that restricted the damage, but his distribution was awful. The lat few long hoofs in particular were just plain embarrassing. Porro couldn't hit a cross or corner to save his life. Danso and VDV looked completely out of sorts and the latter had the worst game I've ever seen from him. I'll give Palinha a pass on effort alone, but none of the MF covered themselves in glory. Kudus was double marked, but even he was running out of ideas and had poor support. Simons was just appalling and enough has already been said about his abject contribution. Spence tried his best and with RKM was arguably the only two outfield players to get any credit whatsoever. The substitutions were all either too late, ineffective, or a combination of the two. Bergvall going off so early didn't help matters obviously, but I imagine a voice in his head tonight is saying 'thank **** I was not part of that!' You have to wonder what the **** was being said in the dressing room before and during that shambles.
...and we all thought Big Ange was bad! Bloody awful display in all fairness, tactically all over the place. The Utd game will be very interesting now. On a brighter note, the wife has come out to pick us from Nottingham station so looks like I might get to bed before midnight. Small victories and all that.
At this point Werner was a better player for us than Xavi has been, and thats a sad reflection of how poor Xavi has been
Kane's ridiculous numbers at Bayern should have told us all we needed to know about the widening gulf between the PL and Bundesliga. Just look at how Wirtz is struggling at Liverpool and he came with a far stronger reputation. The problem is Simons is yet another panic buy, a last gasp effort to cover two roles we'd failed to cover in the months beforehand. Stinks of a Levy signing and as I said at HT yesterday, I sincerely hope we now see an end to this obsession with spending £30-50m on completely irrelevant players. The squad is full of them.
I hate this game over every other every season ,they just have the hex on us , the last time I enjoyed it was on my birthday when Dele scored a couple
I think most Spurs fans will share that feeling Alfie, at least most UK based fans will. It's become a fixture which we somehow manage to lose in the same frustrating way despite having different players and different managers. This year they have lost to Villa, Newcastle, Man. United, Brighton, and Sunderland. Are we worse than all those teams? We are when playing Chelsea but we are least on a par with most of those clubs. If it's mental, how does it carry over from different players to different managers? Whatever it is the same horror happens every season.
Spence hasn't really kicked on this season. His form for England has arguably been better than for Spurs. But the issue is more the fact that the midfield balance is off and whatever we try at LW doesn't work at all. That entire flank is a mess. I get the fixation on inverted wingers but imo as soon as Kulusevski is back, he goes straight back into the team at RW and Kudus goes to LW.
Yeah Spence was terrible yesterday especially, actually pissed me off the amount of times he tried doing stupid dribbles in our half and was heavily responsible for their goal. I’m hoping the England call ups and this “Djed Spence penitentiary” stuff isn’t getting to his head and it’s just a blip in form but definitely something we need to keep an eye on. As for Kulu and Kudus, I’d throw Kulu straight in at the 10 when he’s back. Frank more or less said Maddison’s out for the season and my thinking is to to play our best players in their best positions. Kudus’ dribbling style is more suited to cutting inside than running the line, so have him stay RW, Kulu for creativity in 10 and just hope for the best at LW until January. On 1st January though, that £100m ENIC’s supposedly promised us needs to largely go on a LW. I think the Semenyo ship has sailed so maybe go for Ndiaye. Whoever it is needs to be Prem proven like Kudus and Palhinha and in through the door practically the moment the window opens. No messing about.
To be fair to Frank, Simons wasn't in the starting line up and was due to be rested as he's tired after playing a lot of minutes in the last two games. Kulu returning will definitely help, but it's worth noting that the squad has gotten progressively worse from Conte to Ange, and now from Ange to Frank. No Kane, or Son nor Solanke, Maddison or Kulu? This game would have been an absolute battering without Palhinha. I'm glad Frank came out and said he's never managed a team who had so few attempts on goal. The squad is not there yet, and Frank being the manager hopefully makes that obvious to us fans and to the powers that be. I'd like to see January moves for Semenyo, MGW/Rodgers and Toney. I don't believe it'd happen though. Yep. maybe. To be fair though, which relevant players were actually available to us in that position? Who actually wants to come to Spurs that play that position and have PL experience? Semenyo should have been a done deal as soon as there was a chance of Son leaving, Morgan Rodgers was the obvious alternative to MGW but Bournemouth and Villa didn't want to sell. Or maybe Frank didn't rate Semenyo as much as Savinho. We'll see very soon if Levy was indeed the problem, or whether certain players simply don't want to come to Spurs. Hopefully, with Levy being out, we'll get closer to the reality of the situation. The same imbalance of squad that was there under Ange, is still there under Frank. Palhinha helps, as he would have done any of our managers since Pochettino, but anybody expecting us to be beating Chelsea with the squad and availability that we have, with any one but Jesus Christ himself managing the team is highly optimistic at best.
