Those of us that could go out and buy a flat for cash (no mortgage required) in Hull are not doing so. Some of us have a neighbour with a mortgage on her flat with £20k of negative equity because she bought at the top of the market. If I wanted to leave this dead end Northern city going nowhere tomorrow, I could just go. I stay here because the cost of living is very cheap. I can laugh at stupid southerners paying £5 plus a pint for beer when I can get it at half that price. If only I could get rid of the thick as sh*te Tykes here that still vote for old Labour despite the decades of decline that have resulted.
Clearly you know nothing about the loony Left law that has just been brought in to ‘protect’ renters. Your landlord cannot just kick you out for no reason whatsoever (usually just to put the rent up by an extortionate amount). Getting old is not a valid reason for kicking people out. As I originally stated, what this will actually cause to happen is that houses will be taken off the market reducing supply while demand still remains, therefore forcing rents up to the detriment of renters. There are probably still some dodgy landlords around like Rachel Reeves who will accidentally rent you somewhere but she will put your rent up to cover the extra taxes she is imposing on herself.
If you have Digital ID then you can buy a knife. I should hide those three that I bought years ago that I do not use to stab people as all I have is a passport and a driving licence. I use one of them for cutting red meat (for which it was designed) so that surely makes me racist as it is meat of colour.
