Sadly, think this job is a bit too big for him. Actually really like him as a bloke & feel sorry for the crap he’s been handed, but unfortunately we need a bigger personality right now. He just clearly doesn’t have the reputation to get these melts in check. Don’t know who we go in for next but they have to be more experienced, whether that’s as a player or a manager, we are desperate for someone who the players respect enough to take a bollocking on the chin properly
This is gonna sound absolutely mental but I'd honestly be tempted to give Warnock a bell and see if he fancies it til the end of the season. Yeah we'd be accepting that the season is basically a write off and he's not had much success lately but he'd get the basics right and give lots of players a much needed kick up the arse. The culture at the club is completely rotten and he's the exact sort of personality who'd have a good chance of changing that imo.
I still can't yet bring myself to call for someone like Warnock or Big Sam to be appointed as manager. However, I would very open to appointing someone like that in some sort of consultancy role. I don't know if that would be an upstairs type role, or a training ground type role (or both). But the club does badly need that sort of experience. I think Warnock does something similar with Wotton at Torquay?
May as well keep still til Feb then hire someone to try and keep us up, at least keep the season interesting
Yeah Warnock is doing that sort of role but has said he's open to management again. I'd certainly feel more confident of the Fratton fixture with that sort of character in charge.
Nah the skates is before February. Most important game of the season so need someone competent in a good while before then.
Good time to get someone new in now too. The first game is always something of a free hit, and it being QPR is winnable too. Then you have the easiest game of the season in Sheff Wed at home. Followed by 2 weeks on the training ground.
If he is to go we aren’t appointing a new manager by Wednesday. If he goes before then it will be Lallana or something for the next two games and we’ll lose both and the new manager comes in during the international break
To be fair this would be about the third time this type of opportunity has arrived and they have not done the sensible think yet to my, admittedly vague, memory. If it is broken, smash it to bits so it is destroyed.
My understanding from rumours around the club (and this is no big secret) that the number 1 target to replace Still is Liam Rossenior. Questions When? Would Rossenior even consider us? Is he the strong motivator type, who could kick ass and turn us around?
