Got a PB today. 105kg bench press 5 reps. Im currently 13.5 stone. Whats evweyone else lift?, (be honest).
My one rep max is 112.5kg on the bench, I’m 80kg now which is just under 13 stone I think? I don’t really bench though always seem to get a niggle in my left shoulder and my form is probably ****e because I don’t use leg drive or arch my back! Reckon if I knew how to do it properly I could add a bit of weight to that. I tend to stick to the plate loaded chest press, incline press on smith machine and pec deck as my go to 3 for chest. Strangely enough my shoulders are probably my strongest lift for my size and I never seem to get injuries there (touch wood) whilst everyone else seems to! Normally behind the neck press 70kg on the smith machine so about 80kg total.
Well done mate, its good going that. Im gonna see how heavy i can get to with a single rep next time im at the gym. I reckon i can improve on 105kg by a little bit
I probably couldn’t do 105 for 3 like! I reckon if you can’t do 115kg for one now you will be able to do it if you bench twice a week for a few weeks. Since I started the gym about 18 months ago I’ve cut 35lbs or so though I’d love to try and put it size back on and see if I can get strength up a bit.
I dont usually do it every week. Like you it hurts my shoulder. I tend to do it once every 2 weeks. I think ive damaged my rotator cuff doing military presses which are one of my favourite exercises. My shoulders are probably the strongest part of me. I do 3x10 reps at over 60kg military presses.
