They started the season well, under Potter; won four or five of their opening games in a row. But form dipped with De Zerbi coming in. I mean, yeah they weren’t mugs, but at the same time I think most Saints fans saw us as being relatively on par with them.
Selles was caretaker for the Sheff Weds game. Jones was in the stands and his appointment was made official the next day.
Tbf, it still might have been the Sheff Wed game that you made your mind up! We were all pretty gobsmacked that evening, going into the game, of the news that we were about to appoint him.
I don`t know how many games I`ve been to over the years, but that game will for ever be my strangest ever football experience. My son`s pal at school was Clark Robertson, who was captain of the skates at the time. Clark kindly blagged tickets for the game off his old team mate, Gav Bazunu. Clark swung by for some dinner before driving us to SMS. So I went to the game with, and courtesy of, the skates skipper, and chauffeured home by him after. Off the scale weird.
Possibly. But I'm not sure. I still think five or six days ago was the time. Results wise, you would think that a defeat today finishes him off. But this is a triple gameweek. And it's followed by an international break. So it would be more practical to happen in a week's time. The issue there is that you wouldn't usually sack a manager after a win...and I don't want to consider the prospect of us not even being able to win at home vs Wednesday.
Yeah I don't see him being sacked before the international break now regardless of what happens today/Wednesday. Unless we get battered for 4/5 which I don't see happening.
Why the **** are out owners so damn slow to react. It’s been obvious for months this guy couldn’t do the job. Many thought it was obvious before he started it would end like this. I hope Dragan is over and feeling the anger of our fans, he he starts the heads rolling.
I take no pleasure in being right about the danger signs back in September. I genuinely don't - I'd much rather he turned it round. But he's shown nothing bar a handful of good moments in games to show he can.
