When it comes to Moderating a football forum @lardiman tries the patience of a Saint. He’s turned what was once a decent little forum into his own personal vanity project. He’s been told on numerous occasions now that he has no right to move posts (one of his fave past times), or impose his weird Victorian values on others, yet he ploughs on in his trademark sluggish, blinkered way. Any attempt to guide him sees him revert straight into victim mode, his fav default setting, with no doubt an anecdote about his bad back or upset botty on hand to provide support. I vaguely remember inviting Lardi onto 606 a few years ago. I now regard this as a big mistake. I don’t know how many more times he needs to be told to stop doing these things ffs.
What a ridiculous over-reaction. I locked a thread because apparently racist posts were made on it. Before locking the thread I asked for those posts to be explained to me, in case there was a non-racist reason for them that I did not understand. I asked three times and waited six hours, but my questions were ignored. With no alternative explanation given for the posts, I had to conclude that they were indeed racist. In order that the thread did not continue to be used for that purpose I locked it. Nothing has been edited or deleted or moved (on this occasion) - though it is within my remit to do any of those things if I think they are necessary. If anyone has a problem with my position here, feel free to take the matter up with @brb There will be no racist content posted on Not606 Charlton while I am responsible for moderating this forum.
It’s not for you to conclude or impose value judgments on anything. Nobody voted for you or asked you to. You have been politely asked / told on numerous occasions not to move posts or censure stuff but you are like a sloth, you just plough on regardless in your own imitable way, ignoring what has been said. This forum doesn’t exist for you. Please stand aside, or delete your membership, or change your ways, otherwise I am going to get cross.
I didn’t look at that thread and think it was racist. All Royston said was that he didn’t think Leaburn was Jamaican. Because Leaburn senior was from Lewisham.
Of course you don’t. They are not your posts he’s moving, or your views he’s censoring. He’s eminently unqualified to do either, which is part of the problem, and he refuses to listen and change his ways. If you genuinely believe that saying you did not know Miles Leaburn is Jamaican is racist, you are either not very bright, or just looking for trouble.
Straight into victim mode. No, I am saying that you are not suitable to Moderate a forum for a number of reasons, and I and others have put up with your whims and tried to work with you , but you refuse to listen. As one of the three original posters on here , I m respectfully asking you to either stand aside , or leave. I think we have other posters who could do a better job.
I think it’s one of the threads you choose to look at and contribute to when the political views agree with your own.
Why would Miles Leaburn or any of the other black players need a personal connection to Jamaica in order to show solidarity for the victims of the hurricane? They do all have one obvious connection. An ethnic one. The clear implication of the post to me was that Leaburn was somehow out of order to show how he felt about the hurricane disaster, if he was not from Jamaica himself. That this was another example of the 'wrong' policy of promoting diversity at CAFC. That message was reinforced by another post saying Leaburn had likely never even been to Jamaica. That was mockery. I asked for the point of those posts to be explained to me, but my questions were ignored. So I had to rely on my own judgment.
