Excellent appointment well done Bristol City Scudamore appointed to Bristol City Football Club board 30 October 2025 Bristol City is delighted to announce the appointment of Richard Scudamore to the club’s Board of Directors. The experienced sports executive served as both Chief Executive and then Executive Chairman of the Premier League between 1999 and 2018, after two years as Chief Executive of the English Football League. A lifelong Bristol City fan, Scudamore joins Chairman Jon Lansdown and Chief Executive Tom Rawcliffe as board members. Bristol City owner Steve Lansdown CBE said “Richard needs little introduction as a former CEO of both the EFL and Premier League. I have known him for as long as I have been involved in the club and am confident that his wealth of experience will help Jon and Tom take the club forward.” Scudamore said: “I am honoured to be asked by the Lansdown Family to lean in and help the club I have supported all my life. “I am looking forward to working with Jon Lansdown and Tom Rawcliffe in providing the backing and resources to help Gerhard Struber in his task of bringing Premier League football to the city of Bristol. “Although long overdue, the size and passion of the fanbase together with the stability and excellent facilities that the Lansdown family has provided do not in themselves make that inevitable. Rest assured, we will be doing all we can to make it happen.” The club can confirm that Scudamore will officially join the board on November 1st, 2025. I’m with Red Robin on this one. Excellent appointment. With his contacts and knowledge he will see hopefully the failings in the set up and get a proper football man to scout and head up transfer potential.
Certainly a very good appointment, he’ll bring a vast amount of knowledge and experience, and of course has been a City fan for years.
Great appointment but at what cost, there must be a financial arrangement, first off Tom Rawcliffe now Scudamore, is SL building a firm leadership team to protect Jon Lansdown who is a bit inept, reorganise our scouting team and put Tinman back in his box at the academy where he was successful.
And if you were an investor looking at coming in having someone who clearly knows their way around the Premier League makes City more attractive.
