We were too slow there to close him down, our defense has been flawless up to this point, disappointing.......
Goodnight Vienna. Some positives to take from the game, so not all bad. Not sure why we're tapping it about at the back with a few minutes left though. I'd rather they hoof it up field and hope for the best.
Game over, couldn't quite keep up the pace, fitness levels need improving, but a good game up to 70 minutes, but the gaffer needs to tell them it's a 90 minute game....
Thought we accomplished ourselves well. We were good for our lead had a go at them. Had to put up with huge amount of city pressure. If we can take that performance into the league then we should start to rise up the table.
I think the decision to try and hold on for penalties was our downfall. Instead of trying to win the game we just allowed Man City to play attack v defence. You just knew that we wouldn't be able to defend that deep for 45 mins without conceding.
Just getting back home. Excellent first 25 mins - if only Widell had scored ….. I thought that playing the 3 centre backs with Key and Tymon worked pretty well, especially in the first half. Am I alone in thinking that Casey is a cut above Cabango? Samuel’s-Smith also had a decent game. I wouldn’t mind seeing that line up against Charlton albeit with Vipotnik starting instead of Idah, but of course Cabango will start. Some other player observations: Key not good enough / too slow against the better teams. Galbraith held his own against PL players until late on when he tired. Franco was Franco and of course a lovely goal. Inoussa looked tidy, whilst Benson continues to disappoint.
In fairness, I think that City were too dominant and just forced us back and eventually overpowered us, rather than it was a conscious decision to try and play for penalties
