Southeastern are warning that a loud & erratic object, which only bedevils the Valley once every year, will be causing problems this Saturday.

But enough about Reams, there’s a firework display near to the Valley on Saturday.

The last time I went to a fireworks display on Blackheath it lasted about 15 minutes, for the thousands that were there it was a major disappointment.

Look away now @Ponders Revisited but I was told today that 15,000 pets a year die because of Bonfire Night :headbang: it’s absolutely disgusting.

Whenever there are fireworks over here I always stay with my dog, once she starts going mad I pick her up and cuddle her, she shakes like a leaf and cries.

    I always stay indoors.

It is really terrible what happens animals during the fireworks season. It is no longer one night. It lasts for a few weeks. During Diwali, around our way, they were letting off fireworks at 2.00am during a work night.

There is a huge Indian diaspora in West London, they have had Diwali events almost nightly for the past couple of weeks. I can confirm that the related fireworks are a complete pain in the arse.

I am at the stage now of thinking they should be banned. Their effect on innocent animals is terrible.

It's truly horrendous. It's time fireworks were confined to designated, regulated displays. If it was one night only, it wouldn't be too bad, but weeks of it is too much.

My little pug is deaf and quite blind nowadays, so she doesn't suffer too much. Back in the day, however, we would relocate to our country abode for much of October and November.

I feel for those who have no other option but to suffer.

Maybe not banned, but limited in size. They are far too loud for domestic use. Terrifying for cats.

These days she mostly snuggles under her blanket till walkies and dinner. She is a pampered pooch really. We've had her nine years after rescuing her from a puppy farm. The best grand I've ever spent.

    And it's my birthday!

Three goals for us and a clean sheet would be the perfect present.

Completely unrelated Ponders, but I was standing outside the Tube station last night waiting for a (black) taxi (obviously I never use Uber) when who walked up to me but a small, baby fox. He wasn’t in the least inhibited. Fortunately for him I had just bought some food shopping in Waitrose and had some luxury mince & cream pies. I gave him one, he took it gently from me, the whole thing in his mouth, and trotted off <cheers>

Fantastic. Good for you. And good for young Mr Foxy. I bet he loved that fancy treat.

I leave out good quality dog food or corned beef hash for my local fox. He's looking a bit ragged of late, but he is getting on in his years.

I love foxes. For years used to see them in the summer playing in the sidings between Maze Hill and Westcombe Park almost daily.
