Sadly mate you telling the same people over and over again, people who couldn’t give a s hit about Farage and probably hate his guts, How many posts to the same people would you call an obsession? 40, 60, 80 over a 100 I bet I can guess where you are. That mate is a obsession.
Live in Durham CC and have done for nearly 66 years,to tell the truth I never notice any difference no matter who’s in charge, all I do know is the council tax goes up every year, and you want anything doing be it local transport, environmental or social matters NOBODY listens to you
Fair enough. All I can say is when the Tories and liberals came into power in 2010 mainly councils in the north were hit harder with cuts than those in the south (pretty sure there was a report circulating in local government at the time which highlighted some councils in the south actually saw increases). One of the biggest costs in local government is staff. If we value workers obviously they will get percentage increases in salary hence rises. However, adult social care is very big cost and only going higher as people live longer. Whatever government is in power hasn’t dealt with this (though Johnson said he would). There has to be cross party consensus to tackle this massive issue imho.
There’s only one person who’s fcuk’d County Durham and we still haven’t recovered, and we all know who that was
Totally agree re social care, it should be took away from party politics and a multi party team set up to sort it out.
What was frightening watching the Labour lad this morning is him admitting the two army bases will cost more a year to run than the hotels do for the same amount of illegals, but and here’s the big but, the public are happy with that as we are taking them out of the hotels He also said there are 32,000 illegals and the barracks only hold a 1000. Way to go my son. Saying that the rapist has now been deported so there is only 31,999
I think a lot should be done that way, more collaborative and cross party, however there’s an issue at the moment about whether people are actually going to have public services at all. I can only speak with confidence about children’s social care and special schools but privatisation has bankrupted children’s services due to increasing cost per unit and essentially taken investment in prevention away and the owners whack it away in dividends so we aren’t even getting it back.
I’m not against wind turbines personally. It makes sense to best use our inclement weather to our advantage. We need to ensure the use of wind doesn’t consume too much peaty hillside which prevents flooding and also ensure we retain recreational space so got to look at counter impacts.
I think they are the proverbial white elephant. And they look a mess. A blight on our landscape. The fells around Tow Law a prime example. If you must have them, go offshore, but I wouldnt like to hazard a guess as to how many you need to replicate 1 nuclear plant. Far too many folk scared of nuclear. I would sooner have one of those on my doorstep than a wind or solar farm taking up green land.
Fair enough.‘I’d use them all. Water, wind, nuclear. I think places like Sunderland / the east coast are equipped for this stuff. My family were miners and some harp back to old industry (for sentimental older votes) but remember open cast ?
