Nice read....I get it, but I'm still convinced that, by and large, there is more disposable cash down there...But yes there are pockets of deprivation in the large areas of east London, for instance, and even in some of the outer west and south suburbs. BTW on your fireman Sam pal. Is he from the Newham/East Ham district, but now lives in Market Weighton? And are some of the people who were flaunting their money in Hull, criminals?...Only kidding. Reference to HKR, by others, is interesting. Does the increase in attendances at KR, match the fall at City?
Hull KR were up to capacity, around 11K, as you'd expect in their best season ever, and slightly over the drop at City, however the Venn diagram doesn't match the exact same people. We lost thousands to RL in the 80's but their support appears to be mainly parallel to us since with any RL success having very little impact on City?
That surely must have a big effect. We live in the edge of a small village in Sussex, I've never seen even a small house for sale in the village for less than £450,000. The cost of housing whether buying or renting is extortionate in the South East, so that must balance out to some extent the generally higher wages and employment.
Saturday afternoon’s way better. Injuries making a difficult job even harder and arguably testing our squad depth . Plenty of games left for a challenge but no easy fixtures at this level. January window could be interesting if needed.
I'd guess the two rugby clubs take support away from city - ca. 40,000 attending professional sports games ca. once every two weeks - those figures against the Hull population compared to other cities, would probably show that the ppl of Hull support their sports teams equally as fervently.
Anecdotally, I rarely hear of people who don't go to City because they watch RL instead. I think it's deeper than that. Loads and loads of people seem to like football, just like most places, but the thing in Hull is that the vast majority just aren't interested in attending live games. People see it as a bit of an anorak thing to actually go and watch every week. Premier League, FPL and betting on games are all incredibly popular. I play a weekly 5 a side game on a Tuesday and when it clashes with City I don't play but it's pretty much just me that does that. Everyone else there is in their Man U and Liverpool kits and there's just no attachment to City. When I have a dig about none of them supporting their local team they're just bemused by it. I think it's deep rooted and historical.

Yepp, constant failure to deliver caused a large slice of apathy in Hull....With the advent of sky what 40 years ago they can watch their team, on telly. That's Liverpool etc...etc....I know a Spurs fan, got all the gear, never seen them live. Used to go to City in the mid 60s to mid 70s, got pissed off with the failure to deliver. Hasn't been in 40 years. I'd say there's about 50k of them. Though tricky to quantify. PS...Hull's population is difficult to estimate because half of the city is in Hull, and half is in the East Riding. Some people might be surprised when the true figure is calculated. Might be a lot closer to 500k than 300k.
Agree to include East Riding support, City support must be around 50/50 but RL support would be more 70 Hull/30 ER leaving more room for plastic support in the ER, thats my impression, 50K maybe? Hope your plastic Spurs friend enjoyed our win at WHL the week after we beat Arsenal.
The last numbers I saw had two-thirds of members from the East Riding and a third from Hull, but that was quite some time ago now.

Depends on which site you read.....The figures vary so much. Even the Hull population seems to vary from 265k up to 280k ....I read that the pop of the East Riding is circa 610k, which could be right, but again until the next census we might not know for sure, then it's probably not that accurate.
To be fair, that was a long time ago now.....I know so many plastics from my local gym, it's untrue.....There's even a bloke from a eastern Europe country with a Man City tattoo. A bloke who says he supports Leeds, but goes fishing on most weekends. Then a bloke who supports Man Utd and Wigan RL and every time City are mentioned just repeats 'they're $hit' verbatim. I just smile and chuckle. I got used to it a long time ago.
