I'm sorry for the delay in posting results. I have to admit to finding an error in the progress graph, in that the total points shown in that was not the same as in the league table. The difference wasn't huge: a few points on a few people but it was there. I don't know how long that been the case. If I had to guess, it might have crept in when I added Ron to the roster. Alternatively, a midweek sequence of a few games might have been omitted from the total altogether. Anyway, the two totals are now the same. Sorry about that. Ron topped the match scores with a very modest 9. This must be a particularly competitive division although if you look at the points spread from first to last, it's similar to the equally sized League 2. We've had bigger scores than this haven't we, or am I being parsimonious with the double points and so on? Lyndhurst got the goal time in the Exeter v Argyle game, but to be fair he put Argyle down to win 0-2 not lose 2-0. All's fair in love and war and he wasn't the only one to do that of course. Perhaps excessive optimism about Argyle's results is another reason for lower scores, although we did the same last year didn't we? Look where that got us.... After 15 rounds of last season, although not necessarily exactly the same number of games, top scorer was Sensible on 164. This year, Musty drew level with Away In BC in first place with 125 points. Lyndhurst closed up a little on 119. Sensible and Ron continued to hold up the rest, but had two of the better scores in the round.
These are tonight's matches: There are still a couple of forecasts to come for the 4th November game: no rush.
Argyle have a good record in matches against Mansfield.....played 40...won24...drawn9 and lost only 7. Goals scored...69......and goals conceded...38.
Mansfield...2-0...Argyle.....another defeat......1pt from a possible 12pts.....injuries aren't helping...but would it be any better with a full squad.....we seem to have no set plan and not much leadership on or off the pitch.....things are getting dour.
We need to get a grip. We need to stop conceding. Hazard Edwards (if available) Ross Mitchell Galloway (or Szucs) Wiredu Boating Dale Ibrahim Mumba Tolaj Or something like it. Wrong thread mind you.
I can't claim it was a stroke of genius but the goal time was indeed the top scorer from the two matches last night. For anyone that's missed it, the Rotherham v Burton game is scheduled for Tuesday 4th November. I have some forecasts, not others. Later today, I'll finalise the list of 12 games for the 1st Round of the FA Cup, due to be played from Friday through to Monday. So as to make it as easily as possible, I'm going to pick only Saturday games.
After great deliberation, I have come up with the following 12 FA Cup 1st Round matches, all to be played on Saturday 1st November. The rules will be as usual: with one Joker and the Argyle first goal time BUT an old friend will make a re-appearance, the Super Match. The Super Match attracts double points and I should tell newcomers that it was withdrawn due to persistent combination by certain individuals with their jokers to produce quadruple points. Or no points of course. I've chosen this particular game as it'll be difficult to dig out data and the vague connection that my ex-employer used to run freight trains through the very large freight depot there. At great expense and with frequent delays. AFC Wimbledon - Gateshead FC AFC Totton - Macclesfield Bolton Wanderers - Huddersfield Town Brackley Town - Notts County Bromley FC - Bristol Rovers Newport County - Gillingham Oldham Athletic - Northampton Town Peterborough United - Cardiff City Salford City - Lincoln City Stevenage - Chesterfield Tranmere Rovers - Stockport County Wycombe Wanderers - Plymouth Argyle
Can I just say I'd be quite happy for Argyle to lose this one. A free weekend during Round 2 couldn't do any harm considering our horrendously long injury list. Joe Edwards, Ayman Benarous and Bradley Ibrahim didn't feature last night on top of long term absentees Xavier Amaechi, Jack McKenzie, Caleb Watts and Pleggy.
