I don't like going through airports either mainly because of the scrum to get through checkin and security. As long as luggage is checked through to final destination I don't mind going through 2 of them so much.
I don't actually mind flying..it's one of the few times that pretty much all control is out of my hands, so I just relax and enjoy the rare time alone not needing to speak and sort of go into a zen state of acceptance. I can actually read a book at the airport or on the plane without being disturbed by thinking of 1001 jobs that need to be done. ****ed hated flying with my kids when they were under 5 though.
Is it ever affordable though? I always check because like someone else said, getting to Manchester and doing all the parking and shuttles and stuff there adds ages onto the journey and I'd much rather use Humberside, but the Humberside option never seems to be remotely competitive. We used it for work for a while, when I wasn't paying obviously, but would love to find the local airport usable for leisure travel.
