i think someone on here said, they take some of the hammy to repair the knee ligaments, so presumably that weakens it??? I will ask my wife she is an ex surgeon edit - 3 methods of repair - yes they do sometimes use hamstring, which does weaken it in the short term, but effective physio should make it recover 100% -sometimes use artificial tendons but unlikely in pro athletes -use from a similar aged dead person similar to organ donation
Is she a tree surgeon...? If, yes, she'll be doing Crooks forthcoming shoulder op. What is it with injuries and this football club?...It's like unprecedented.
I read that Millar decided to do patellar tendon acl reconstruction. This particular method involves taking the middle third of the patellar tendon with a small piece of bone from both the patellar (kneecap) and the tibia. The surgery itself doesn’t involve the hamstring but all the work in rehab does as you have to work on getting close to normal extension and flexion in the entire leg that was subject to the reconstruction. it’s significant trauma to the knee and suffice to say your leg never feels quite the same again. ( that’s coming from someone who has done patellar tendon acl reconstruction on both knees) Doesn’t really surprise me that he may have stretched his hamstring given the intensity with which he plays.
A lot of players seem susceptible to hamstring pulls, after major acl recovery, alas stretching and burst of speed put a hell of a lot of stress on the muscles that haven't been used to it, it's unfortunate, and he'll be missed, but let's hope its a minor pull and we can get him back sooner rather then later. On a positive note sounds like big Ollie may not be far away, so get him back with Giles firing them in for him.and we may scrap along.
Agree. But it does seem a very odd decision to have played him yesterday given the birth of his child the day before and, I think I read, that his partner had been burgled. Ndala was on the bench for when / if we wanted to add a winger. Still, happy with our points tally, just deflated a bit as we let 2 points go, and now have Millar out for a few weeks.
Mine was done using hamstring. It’s not the best. Doesn’t feel anywhere near as strong as it did before.
I seem to recall Michael Owen losing some pace afterwards following his and was prone to hamstring injuries. I AI’d it; Impact on his career: After the injury, Owen felt his playing style was fundamentally changed. He became "petrified" of making certain runs and had to consciously adapt his game, which he found frustrating and ultimately contributed to his desire to retire.
Given the state of our injury list does anyone think any of our lesser used subs might step up and make the grade? I suppose I'm thinking of Gyabi, Destan, Ndala and maybe Williams? From what I've seen of Gyabi, he looks poised, skilful but not confident sticking his head above the parapet. Destan needs more game time and I think he'll be at least as useful as Joseph, Ndala will always be a good impact sub imo and Williams, who knows?
Maybe because he's a loanee? I think he's had some injury issues but I'd have liked to see more of him.
TBH ....No.....The clubs with the stronger squads will edge us out of a top 6. A season where a possible top 6 beckoned , if we kept the players fit, will be likely to result in a midtable finish. Though its still very early days...Like some Coventry fans seem to believe they've won the league after 12 games!!!!
Gyabi is 21, Destan is 23, Ndala is only 19. Williams is 25 but has obviously lost a couple of years of his career. What they all need is game time in order to improve. Maybe this will come in the next few weeks as our injury problems intensify. Realistically though if they all come good and are able to hold down a first team place, then their impact will probably not be until next season. Ndala's obviously a loan but the other three could play a big part in a promotion push next season.
