I misread @Dick Plumb1 post & of course we want his much valued opinions on here. Watching our goal again, what a delivery from James Bree He really does bring something extra to this team.
The injuries will affect this future. If he does not score 5 goals this season I reckon we'll try and flog him in the summer.
Actually we only stayed up on goal difference last season and are currently subject to a Transfer Fee Restriction so can't actually pay for anyone - even loan fees are not allowed. We will have the same restrictions for the January window so most fans will just be happy with avoiding relegation. I thought they way both teams set up today nullified each other. I would have been happy with a point before kick off but it's always disappointing to concede so late. Our main concern was Millar going off. Both our players returning from ACL injuries have done their hamstrings within a game and a half of returning. Good luck for the rest of the season
Ha ha. The season before we finished 7th. Sacked the Manager and employed a mad German. Sacked him and employed Rueben Selles whose remit was to keep us up. Which he did due to Luton's implosion on the final day. But then we sacked him anyway. The current incumbent is not doing a bad job under difficult circumstances.
There needs to be stability in a business, appointing a manager the board think they can do a job so give them time. As long as you have a decent track record, and a good agent, it's very lucrative being a manger.
I think we all need to remember where we came from. 5 years in league 1 and now we're unhappy with only 7 points out of 9 and our strikers not scoring. Yeah they may not be scoring but I would take this every day of the week than losing at home to clubs like Crawley..
It’s a fair point @CarrianCarcuss although I would say that we are all genuine lifelong fans on here who’s views come from the right place, which is something that can’t be said of certain people on other forums. It’s not a new thing either, our two best managers Lennie & Curbs were regularly subjected to groans from the fanbase. In any promoted side you are going to have a few players who can’t cut the mustard. It just happens to be the case that the ones struggling for us are Academy lads. Anderson has disappeared in the rear view mirror this season, and both TC & ML are clearly struggling.
Appointing Dean Holden was a good move. We had him briefly as our manager - his tenure was sandwiched between a PE Teacher (Ben Garner) & a fraud (Michael Appleton). He did a very decent job, and is one of football’s good guys, but he was working for idiots at the time (our then owner, and his silicone enhanced girlfriend).
You should have been out of sight by half time yesterday, but that's the way things often go. Given the table before the game overall a point is decent enough result for both teams. As ever I enjoyed my Saturday, whatever the result, and met and had a chat with a few of your chaps in Ebenezer Morley's pub beforehand. Put your twenties away for a round, a tenner usually suffices!
