HT. 1-0. Not a great half, and Palace looked more threatening/defensively sound (despite them having 0 shots on target). But they were comfortable and defending in the last line very well. We started to pick up a bit in the last 15 minutes of the half, but we need to up the ante in the second half. Great goal by Eze - of course he'd get his 1st league goal for us against his former club. But he's not played well and he needs to improve second half too. Sharper, more crisp passing, taking less touches in their box, taking more shots and driving at their defence more.
HT 1-0 Arsenal Such a poor half from us - one moment from Eze for the goal was superb. A couple of good runs by Gyokeres, but his lack of pace means he's never going to a big threat in behind. Zubi and Eze have been poor - but of course a moment of brilliance from Eze rescues his half Saliba has had a real struggle against Metete , but just about keeping him under wraps. We will need to play a lot better in the second half.
Was a very sloppy opening 30-35 mins. A lot of errors giving the ball away. On one hand I want to complain about this slow slow slow ..fast approach we use against a low block but... Its working so I can't really,
Saliba going off - hopefully not injured. It may be that he is being replaced because he's having a tough time vs Matete Mosquera on.
Game seems to have opened up this half. Rice hits the bar and gets cleared off the line. Then Saka follows up and is close, but is cleared.
Zubimendi needs to be taken off. He wins the ball so well there, then plays a terrible pass. Story of his game.
Trossard took too long to release the ball again . Eze and Gyokeres were both free. Come on, you need to be more decisive there.
Saka off for Martinelli. Neither him or Trossard have played well to be honest, so it was about time one of them got taken off. I'm surprised Nwaneri's getting no minutes.
Arteta's usually been pretty proactive with his subs this season, but I'm surprised he's not been for this game. Some players have either looked off the pace or haven't influenced the game much. We've dominated this half, but Palace are starting to get a foothold and we need to respond to regain control again.
Palace are in and almost score seconds after Gyokeres wasted a good chance. For gods' sake man. Can we please fix up?
