i think someone on here said, they take some of the hammy to repair the knee ligaments, so presumably that weakens it???

I will ask my wife she is an ex surgeon

edit - 3 methods of repair
    - yes they do sometimes use hamstring, which does weaken it in the short term, but effective physio should make it recover 100%
-sometimes use artificial tendons but unlikely in pro athletes
-use from a similar aged dead person similar to organ donation

Is she a tree surgeon...? If, yes, she'll be doing Crooks forthcoming shoulder op.

What is it with injuries and this football club?...It's like unprecedented.

I read that Millar decided to do patellar tendon acl reconstruction. This particular method involves taking the middle third of the patellar tendon with a small piece of bone from both the patellar (kneecap) and the tibia.

The surgery itself doesn’t involve the hamstring but all the work in rehab does as you have to work on getting close to normal extension and flexion in the entire leg that was subject to the reconstruction.

it’s significant trauma to the knee and suffice to say your leg never feels quite the same again. ( that’s coming from someone who has done patellar tendon acl reconstruction on both knees)

Doesn’t really surprise me that he may have stretched his hamstring given the intensity with which he plays.

A lot of players seem susceptible to hamstring pulls, after major acl recovery, alas stretching and burst of speed put a hell of a lot of stress on the muscles that haven't been used to it, it's unfortunate, and he'll be missed, but let's hope its a minor pull and we can get him back sooner rather then later. On a positive note sounds like big Ollie may not be far away, so get him back with Giles firing them in for him.and we may scrap along.

    Agree.
But it does seem a very odd decision to have played him yesterday given the birth of his child the day before and, I think I read, that his partner had been burgled. Ndala was on the bench for when / if we wanted to add a winger.
Still, happy with our points tally, just deflated a bit as we let 2 points go, and now have Millar out for a few weeks.

Yes, most are done with a piece of hamstring. Mine was.

Mine was done using hamstring. It’s not the best. Doesn’t feel anywhere near as strong as it did before.
