That's a real tough one. I don't think I want the miserable experience of trying to rank them!

Ralph might. Marco Rose might. Adi Hutter might. There'll be options out there.

I'm not suggesting we should stick with Still. He has shown precisely nothing here. But we are just going to be in the same position in another 10 games time with the next clever appointment they make. I don't even have hope that a new manager might do better anymore.

Cheap option. We could try ... Guillaume de Stijl

(completely) Belgian coach, from, er... from Excelsior.

(Soporific Still immediately sounds so much compelling when he speaks French!)

I'm probably one of the more vocal posters regarding Carrick. But if I'm honest, that's mainly because of the limited options. I would have preferred that we'd appointed him in the summer, so that if it didn't work out then there would have still been time to make a change (ie just as there is now with Still).

But instead we're now in a position where, if we do sack Still, we can't afford to get the next appointment wrong if we're to salvage the season. Because if we end up making yet another change in, say, February or March, then I think it's fair to suggest that we won't be finishing top six.

Given the situation, I think the best answer for us is an experienced disciplinarian. Someone who has been round the block, has dealt with adversity before, and who would know how to get the best out of this squad. But I don't mean a Big Sam type dinosaur, whose managerial career is clearly now behind them (there's a reason why he's now doing adverts with Pulis and Pardew!) The problem is I really can't think who fits that description.

I wonder what chance we would have of luring another Championship manager? could we get a Lampard, Robins or Neil. What about nicking the Skates manager?

No chance could be get Lampard right now. Robins I think we could; Neil I'm not sure about - I suspect not.

But would I want Robins? He knows the league and he regularly had Coventry playing very well in the second half of seasons. But ultimately I don't see him as someone who meets what we need.

Utter delusion if anyone thinks we can grab the likes of Lampard or Robins <laugh>

    Oh how far we've fallen.

Agreed. Which is why I do find myself coming back to Carrick. He's not what I would ideally like right now, but he's available, I like his style, he knows the league, and I think he would be interested.

I've just looked up that he has the 29th best career points per game in the Championship since 2000. Which is a higher than any manager who has managed us in the Championship in that time.

I suggested Carrick about two years ago. He was excellent initially at Boro, before things seemed to stagnate there.

    Would defo take him now.

Even if they do, zero chance he will turn it around. So we’ll be having this debate soon enough anyway.

    And Hull and Scunthorpe.

Martin is 32rd for what it's worth.
