What has he ever done for Leeds? apart from promotion which was nailed on anyway and mid table in the Prem which is hardly the most competitive league in the world.
I hear you though thought we did it better yesterday to be fair. still don’t think it’s entirely deliberate… Farke was talking about illness and injuries in the squad and reckoned we were out on our feet and defending too deeply - but we do it every game we’re up in. Think there are multiple reasons.
Farke won't be the first to berate a team for not following the plan and defeding too deep. Pretty much every England manager of the last 20 years has had to put up with this, but it was Gruev coming on that seemed to change this. Do the subs have a different set of instructions or do they just get over excited and forget?
One things for sure we’ve got to sort out this last fifteen minute issue. Far too many points thrown away this season already in last minutes of games. I’ve no doubt had we only had a one goal lead at half time last night we’d have blown it again. Is it just a combination of players still not match fit like Okafor and James. Harrison is several levels below okafor in standard and was fairly hopeless as usual when he had to be introduced. Issue needs sorting before the December horror run or it’ll be a hard watch with little or no points
Stats suggest we cover more ground, have a bigger % of jogging AND sprinting per game than most teams in the league. It's entirely plausible that the players are just ****ed after an hour and tend to drift back towards their own box. Farkes problem is that other, more established clubs, can throw on multiple £30-100 million value players for the last 30 minutes and we throw on the likes of Harrison, James Justin, Gruev, Nmecha and Tanaka. It diluted our team and we retreat further. The financial 'fair play' means we cant compete the last quarter of a match.
Its why I struggle to blame the board or Farke at this point. We're doing what we can with the constraints we are under. It's easy to say we needed a striker or right winger or playmaker but we also needed a keeper, a centre half, midfield improvements. Even replacing Debayo with the likes of Bornauw needed doing. Dawned if we do and dawned if we don't.
Isidor scores again for Sunderland. That's the striker I would have moved for in the summer if Sunderland didn't go up.
yep its part physical Part mental in my view. We make up for lack of technical skill with work rate and we press hard. All those timed subs that everyone hates, there’s a reason for them. When we’re missing subs who give us an outlet we gradually retreat without an out ball.
