Well, having drawn the attention of the faithful to Mr Fudge from the Stockport diabolical performance followed by the equally diabolical performance at the Wimbledon match, we now have Harley Hetherington as the other lino from the afore mentioned. God awful performance apparently. Lots of calls on Pasoti for the head of Cleverley. To be fair our performances are beginning to be worse than poor.
Argyle had the ball in the net first but the goal was ruled out by the linesman for offside. That seemed to be the right decision by some distance. However, on a subsequent review by Sky’s video people, it was clear that an Exeter foot had played the ball through. As usual, there’s apparently 25 pages drom the FA defining what counts as a “pass” in such circumstances, which basically says the touch has to be deliberate. To me if you go in for a tackle, as was the case here, that’s deliberate. Of course there was no intention to pass to an opponent, but then, there never is, is there? On such small things do mighty empires stand or fall. This game has all the style and sophistication you’d expect from a local derby between two teams in the bottom of League 1. None in other words. Argyle were poor. We’ve really got to stop the defence going on walkabout, especially in the first 15 minutes of away games. I lost count of the number of times they were through 1 on 1. No change in manager should be considered under any circumstances. We’ve had too many such changes, which is part of the problem. We just need to be a bit more pragmatic and not try to emulate Barcelona in their pomp. Ideally, I’d suggest going to a proper back 4 but we don’t really have 2 conventional full backs. In that case, especially early on away from home, it needs to be a back 5 with the holding midfielder in front, not a 3 with the wing backs miles upfield. What happened to “quieting the crowd”?
