Gelhardt Millar Crooks Although, several others could easily be in there, not least Ajayi, Hughes, Amir, Giles and Drameh. Great first half all round and very solid second defensively.
Five points for first choice, three for second, one for third. Millar 161 Gelhardt 85 Ajayi 83 Crooks 57 Hughes 22 Slater 13 Joseph 10 Hadžiahmetović 8 Giles 8 Drameh 3 Welcome back Liam Millar! Our performance so far this season against the relegated/promoted sides? Played 3. Won 3. Let's go and make it Played 4 Won 4.
Syd mentioned it on his podcast but, Millar seems almost better than before his injury. He always looked bright and exciting before, but his end product was up and down. Since coming back at half time against Preston he has a goal, an assist, and also two pre-assists if you will (played the key through ball to free Giles in space to cross leading to a goal on two occasions). So essentially four goal involvements in three and a half games (actually a fair bit less time than that if you look at his minutes). And we've also won each of those three games and the half game. It's been a fairytale return really.
Probably a lot to do with the way the manager has him and the team playing, plus the team he's playing in now. He was class before the injury and thankfully hasn't lost it. I remember that some seemed to underestimate / under rate his ability and question him before he got injured. Imo he was a really impressive signing at the time. Millar, Belloumi and Matazo were all top signings and massive losses last season. Can't wait to have all 3 back and hopefully firing just like Millar is now. IF we can then keep our key players fit the 2nd half of this season could get very interesting.
Aye it's worth remembering all his appearances last season were under Dim Tim, so there was no coherence in the team. I remember him and Giles basically tripping over each other away at Leeds as they had no idea what they were meant to be doing. Compare that now to the triangles we've seen on the left and knowing when each of them will give and go. Shows Sergej is absolutely leagues ahead of Walter.
