Great thread as always @RTB, my head says defeat for us but if we can avoid a repeat of the first half hour at Old Trafford in our last away game and can frustrate this lot then we could nick a draw. That would be a superb result because Chelsea are undoubtedly a quality side. Reason for hope would be how lax their CB’s and to an extent their CM was at Forest. Not sure about their CB’s but it looks like Fernandez will be back to bolster their midfield. 1-1
I'm not expecting to win....what I'll be looking for is a real improvement in our first half performance from the Man U game. I felt the players were a bit overwhelmed in that match early on and lost us the game, despite improvement later when we seemed to settle. If we've learned from that, we'll give a good account of ourselves, and we've had some surprisingly good performances at Stamford Bridge over the years. These players need to realise we're where we are on merit and we're perfectly capable of competing with the top teams in this league. If we contain them, harass them, get at them.....we can worry them. On a side note.....discipline is crucial.....these are a team with poor discipline, which we can cash in on,as long as we don't fall for their nonsense.
Think we tried that with United and it didn't work. Would rather we keep it really tight and see if we can sneak a flukey point.
Thanks for the thread @RTB Going to be a tough match this one. If we can keep our heads, I reckon we can nick a point. I'd be happy with that.
Forest showed first half get at them and it rattled them. Forest should have been a few goals up but didn't take there chances
I think it was partly due to the players but I also think that RLB got his team wrong that day. We got a few decisions go against us that day with the officials and VAR but regardless, we need to be better than we were in the opening half hour. RLB seems to learn his lessons quickly and I'd be disappointed if we started a game like that again.
I agree with that. I'd like to see us go there with a clear plan of good defending, denying them space and breaking whenever we can. Then we can thrown the big boys up for any dead ball situations. Keeping it tight will bore the tourists and wind up the Chelsea supporters. There's a fractious element in the relationship with the players and their manager ... ... so let's wind them up and make the game really messy and uncomfortable.
It was a poor first half overall. But,one of the things about us at the minute is that we seem to be able to correct our mistakes. Hopefully,Saturday will be better.
Remember it very well. The Nedum goal......one of the most beautiful things seen in the beautiful game!
Another perfect scene setter from @RTB well done young man! Biggest test of the season so far this one. We will have learned so much from the Man Utd game if we set up the same - what works and what doesn’t. Plus we’ll have Reinaldo back. We’ve upset the odds before At Stamford Bridge and every chance we can get something from this if we play to our full potential. I think set pieces will be key. Again I just hope we give a good account of ourselves regardless of the result
