Burcu Yesilyurt, who lives in Kew, said she thought she was acting "responsibly" when she poured out a small amount of coffee from her reusable cup down the drain rather than risk spilling it on the bus she was about to catch to work. Richmond-upon-Thames Council said its officers "acted professionally and objectively" * and that the fine was issued in line with its policies. * I think that if they had acted professionally and objectively the three of them (yes it too three of them) could have said "Oi love, you can't do that" Teams of people employed to fine the public for tipping a bit of java down the drain but this is Richmond I suppose, a place surprisingly free of dark people as I recall although chances are the "officers" were all Nigerian.
