As we are all getting on so well <cheers> I’ve only been to your place once before, Boothferry Park (?), I seem the remember it was at atmospheric old school ground with a big terrace on the side to the left.

What I do remember about that day (about 30 years ago) was we were 2-1 up, then you got an indirect free kick in our six yard box in the last min of the game :headbang: ….never seen that happen before, or since. Anyway, our wall lined up right on the goal line with our keeper Bob Bolder in front ….you took it & scored & the ref blew up for full time.

It was a long trip back to London that night.

I think Doc will get a good reception from us, was terrific in our league 1 campaign.

Hopefully our injuries don’t affect us too much.

We’re a counter attacking team so will be interesting to see how the flow of the game progresses.

He’s been exactly the same with us.

Model pro, great leader, gets on well with the fanbase.

He is hoping to go to the World Cup with Jockland, and in his current form I wouldn’t bet against it.

If you are coming on Saturday don't head for Boothferry Park, we play a bit further up the same road but nearer the city centre now, sign posted the MKM stadium.
I've been to the Valley a couple, well three, times, been in that famous pub with the funny name, something Denmark? with the hanging baskets outside. Mate a mine who'd had a few walked out of there and straight into a lamp post. Remember we played you away first game of the season 1970/71 and the buses left Hull just after midnight to get there for a 3'o'clock kick off, we lost 1-0, and you had a mob of West Ham fans backing you up for some reason?
Always remember Charlie Wright and a forward called Hayes who was a handful and knew where the back of the net was. But best memory is that 3-0 win here in the FA Cup, the game would have been called off today because the pitch was a couple of inches deep in snow.
Echo the sentiments about Greg Docherty too. He and his wife spent a lot of money in one my daughters shops, which was good of him, they could have gone anywhere, but wanted to support a small independent. Met his old fella too, he used to travel away and stand with the fans in the away end. Top player who always gave 100% for us.

That's the one, look at the pitch! and they call games off these days because the footpaths outside are slippery! Orange ball that day too, something of a novelty in those days.

Chatting about boozers in Charlton. Got me ruminating. What's the one right on the edge of the Thames, down a narrow walkway. The Thames barrier is about 300 yards away..It was about 10 to 15 mins walk from the ground. I've looked on Google thingy, but can't find it. Maybe it's no longer with us. Shame if that's the case because it was a nice place. Loads of City where in there when we drew there 1-1 in the 07/08 promotion season.

    Edit...Found it 'Anchor & Hope'....Great little boozer.

Like others, id take a draw now.

I think 4 points out of these 2 games whichever way around, everyone would have taken that.

A win would be awesome obviously.

I had no recollection of that game until watching that but now, I’m pretty sure I was there, it all looks very familiar and I started going when I was 8 and this was a couple of weeks before my 10th birthday, so I’m sure I would have been there.

I remember this well - as a youngster stood with my dad in the North stand, amazed at how orange the ball looked and the Charlton keeper (Charlie Wright) turning round to the crowd before taking a goal kick, telling us all in a strong Scottish accent "it's no a day for footba" Happy memories.

I’d love us to win this but I’ve gone for the draw, then again I had the same feeling prior to the Leicester game, so…

I think as much as it's a banana skin for us it's the same for Charlton. It's a genuinely cracking contest. Both sides in red hot form and neither should be underestimated.

A difficult one to call, it could be an ''after the lord mayor's show'' sort of game, both sides had excellent results and performances mid-week, so might be a 0-0 game. I wouldn't sniff at a point.

I can see Ndala starting with Millar on the bench, who looked out on his feet after the game, or Joseph on the left and Destan up front. I am not as negative as some about Destan, he hasn't had game time to get into the rhythm of the game yet, but he had a nice one two with Gelhardt when Joffy nearly got his 2nd.

Looking forward to the game though, and I agree, Doc will get a good reception from the City faithful.
