To be honest, it wasn’t you I had in mind when I wrote that. It was someone else who comes out with these things but never admits they may be wrong and gets involved in long, convoluted arguments to try and backtrack.
Agree about the cracking effort... Wonder if Ipswich had the same sentiment tonight re: the softies....Just in case you don't know they lost at home 0-3 to those same softies!!
Cracking first half, 2 great goals, and could easily score one or two more. 2nd half as probably expected with the players Leicester have they improved and we had to batten down the hatches to a large degree. However, to only concede the one goal, which to be fair was a wonderful strike, the boys handled the situation admirably. Very hard to single out any player, but Ajayi and Hughes were excellent, as was Drameh and Giles. Amir goes quietly about his work, and his passing and in particular the weight of pass is excellent. Slater and Crooks were outstanding as were Gelhardt and Millar, so please for Millar to ave a really good game topped off by a wonderful taken goal. Joseph isn't going to be a prolific goalscorer, but he certainly runs his socks off and keeps back-lines occupied. 3 win on the trot, winning at home regularly, the future is starting to look bright.
Disagree, replay showed that the contact in the box was coming from the Leicester player. Really good reffing all round.
Kyle Joseph is a bit like our Dirk Kuyt. Just keeps on going, gets about a lot up top, pops up centrally or wide and picks up some rewards here or there. Not a stand out name amongst some of the others in terms of technical ability, but his overall contributions to the team keep getting him selected, and deservedly so.
Excellent team performance - it really is starting to come together - we have some good players and first half we could have had four or five with better finishing - second half they came at us a lot more - they were very good on the wings and Dramah in particular stuck to his task and kept at the winger - I can't help thinking that Coyle would have left him too much space and would have been run ragged - hopefully now, Dramah gets some game time after that performance - Crooks was immense in the middle with a 5 star performance as was Hughes and Ajayi - thought we defended really well until the last 15 minutes then we started to do our best to **** about trying to dribble it out rather than passing it out or even hoofing it out - what ever we were trying to do isn't good for low blood pressure - anyway another win, another good performance and a million miles away from the 'were getting relegated and Acun's a ****' comments from some - you know who you are - at the start of the season - keep this up and dare to dream!!!
I thought when we dribbled it out was when we actually soaked up the most time as we got control of the ball and pushed players out of our box. It was Destan misplacing passes or losing the ball in spots Joseph was retaining the ball that put us under pressure.
genuinely think if he'd gone all in we'd have ended up with an unbalanced squad.....the transfer restrictions a blessing in disguise
Amen to this. You’d also think our UEFA pro licence coaches know a little bit more about the game than everyone that repeatedly knocks him. He’s a vital cog in the machine.
Think Charlton will be a bigger challenge than Southampton, Birmingham or Leicester. Despite being the weakest of the promoted teams on paper, they’ve exceeded expectations and put in some good performances and got good results. They don’t concede many at all, which is impressive for a promoted team. Really disciplined side and we shouldn’t underestimate them.
Fair enough. I remember having similar conversations and I must admit it’s refreshing to see the game evolve back into this style of football
