Just loving City's grit and determination this term...Yes, backs to the wall in the second half, that was to be expected, but no one shirked or threw a hissy fit. Great togetherness on the whistle....Brilliant.

I’ll admit I remember having this argument with you on here. It’s interesting that in recent weeks there’s a page on Twitter that posts the top possession stats amongst others. I think Saturday’s 1 out of the top 8 possession won.

it does feel like football is currently leaning to counter attacking football to combat the years of possession based dominance.

I think the manager should be given a lot of credit. Seems to have changed things around.

I think it's a debate that's never going to be settled. Some of us could see him (and the side) working it out as the season progressed which is why we finished off with some quite high scoring games (Southampton, Leicester, Ipswich amongst others). I think the poster I quoted claiming that "Rosie-ball" is by nature slow and low scoring was what I was taking issue with when "Rosie-Ball" is a bit of a broad brush assessment. It was also something that didn't need to be brought up.

was a big big test tonight without McBurnie. Passed with flying colours. Other than Williams who we've not seen play, maybe Famewo whose time has been limited, every player we've brought in, even going back to KJ in Jan has played their part too, luck or judgement who cares

    Enjoyed that a lot.

Thought Ajayi was excellent and really enjoyed watching us on the counter.

Not sure if anyone else saw the bench in the last 10 mins or so but the rest of the players were going crazy cheering the team on. Great to see.

    Really like this team.

I said early doors this could be the year for Acun to go all in. Then we got the embargo.
I don’t think Southampton will go up. They had record lowest points last year and struggled to get promotion the previous season, I just sense they are on a slow decline.
Aren’t Leicester facing a points deduction?
I did assume Ipswich and Sheffield Utd would be up there, but both now have a lot of ground to make up.
It’s definitely there for the taking for someone

I remember towards the end of Rosenior's full season posting all of our match stats. In every game where we had over 65% possession we failed to win, barring only one example against Blackburn where they got a red card in the first half and we were able to make the possession count for once. We only picked up 3 points when we had closer to 50/50 possession, or we even managed wins in games where we had less than 50%... We rarely scored 'team' goals as well at that stage, relying on players like Delap to almost break our own system and surge forward, wrestling past 2 or 3 defenders at a time. We were screaming out to progress the ball faster constantly but were often told that 'tempo' was just one of those means nothing buzz words and that we obviously didn't understand football.

We're currently going through most games with less possession than the opposition, were scoring well worked team goals regularly, we way up the table for goals scored despite some gaps in defence, it's better to watch and we're not even a full strength side yet. Right now it seems we're either going to have a season of ups and downs, or you never know, we might build some momentum and have a proper go.

Up to 7th in the table. Who would have thunked it? Need to be right on it on Saturday, Charlton look like the surprise package. Even more than us.

We do keep just picking up annoying little
Injuries. Mcburnie doesn’t look good if he’s had a knee scan.

We’ve got a decent coaching staff who are excellent at the man-management side of things and a squad who will run through brick walls for each other and the gaffer.

Leicester have quality in spades and their goal proved that. However, they’re not a team fighting for each other. Their body language was piss-poor. Some of them are mercenaries on Premier League wages who clearly don’t give a toss. In the first half, they were playing like a team 2-0 up in a friendly, not 2-0 down in a competitive game.

I think slow build-up and ‘recycling’ the ball in possession is slowly on its way out now. Even top teams that dominate possession like PSG move the ball quickly between the lines and have quick, tricky wingers. No more of this bollocks like having slow midfielders on the wings who safely pass the ball backwards or centre-backs having the most touches per game. Some teams are still doing it but they’re getting found out. We’ve beaten one of them tonight and beat another in Southampton a few weeks ago.

Of course, I would like us to control the ball a bit better. We had 70%+ possession against Oxford and still played quick, attacking football. However, I’m content with us having 30% possession, counter-attacking and winning games if that’s what it takes.

Ice bag was on his calf and was walking around at final whistle. You’d think if it was knee he’d be sat with a big of ice on that… just a thought!!

I'll also add, Dean Holden sounds like a great guy to have around, he interviews really well.

Cracking effort tonight, bring on the Southern softies on Saturday.

Imagine Fatawu for Leicester in our side? It’s funny that if you give your best attacking players the ball more in good areas you’ll score more goals. You’d think football was a complicated sport

He looked mustard last season before he got injured we’ve got Belloumi to come back. He’s not as quick and direct as that guy.

We certainly got away with that Penno shout.

So we may have a bit of a crisis at full back.
Giles was done in and practically on one leg from half an hour in. Couldn’t work out why we didn’t bring Coyle on, Only just realised it was his kid brother on the enchilada.
    What’s going on with Williams?
