We should win comfortably, but playing teams from lower leagues can sometimes be a banana skin.

You reckon? I think it'll be a tough game against a good side with a very good manager.

I know their La Liga form has been patchy this season (4 wins, 4 draws, 1 loss). However, they have some very capable and talented players who can cause us problems. Antoine Griezmann, Julian Alvarez, Pablo Barrios, Marcos Llorente, Alex Baena...it won't be a straightforward victory. Their performance against Liverpool at Anfield showed that.

i don’t think they are as good as Real, and honestly last year showed that we are miles ahead of Real.
Sure it could be a tough game, but no moreso than say West Ham at home.

Woah. Ok, I think you're massively underestimating their quality! <laugh>

I think we should win and I'd say we've got the better team, but Atletico will be no cakewalk. It's going to be a tough match against a manager who sets his team up in a very compact, well-drilled manner away from home - especially against top teams like us. And they have serious quality in attack. Julian Alvarez is like gold dust for them, he will be the main threat to fear.

If we win, we'll need to fight tooth and nail for it.

    Will be tough for sure.
Julian Alvarez has been on brilliant for them in recent months and Simeone's teams are always good defensively.

That was a really poor ball from Timber. Saka would have been in if he'd got that pass right. It wasn't even a complicated pass to make. Annoying.

Eze's deflected strike hits the bar.

Rice volleys it over on the follow up.

    Unlucky.

EDIT: Actually, having seen the replay, Rice should have scored too. He was under no pressure and the ball fell kindly to him.

Lewis-Skelly lucky to not get booked after checking Guiliano Simeone's run. Frustrating how that chance came about because we'd pounced on a loose ball from Atletico and tried to play it forward too quickly, then the ball ricocheted back into midfield which they nearly capitalised on.

Their defence is there to be got at, we just need to stop rushing our decisions when we get into their third.

Timber's passes down the channels/in the half spaces have been too aggressive so far. Needs to get the right weight of pass there. Eze would have been in, too.

Saka has been running Atletico ragged so far. That shot from Lewis-Skelly is dragged wide. That one was unfortunate, as it was a difficult angle.

That wasn't a foul. Barrios conned the ref there. He was lucky that got given.

Saka is played through on goal from Zubimendi's defence-splitting pass, but Oblak reads it well and comes out proactively to block Saka's shot early.

Wtf is Raya doing? He's extremely lucky that didn't go in <doh>. What an uncharacteristically bizarre moment from him.

Gabriel makes a mess of a clearance and it deflects off Alvarez, who runs in on goal, but thankfully, we get enough bodies back and Gabriel closes down the angle.

Le Normand gets in the way of Gyokeres having a free header at goal. Good ball by Timber.

What a waste of a set piece routine that was from a promising position <doh>.

Martinelli has the ball in the net, but it's offside. He timed that very wrong. If he'd timed his run a second later, he would have been onside.
