Well it looks like Konate isn't going to sign a new contract. So even if we did get Guehi in the summer, we'd still need another CB. And taking into the fact that Leoni wont be able to play until this time next year and it'll probably take him another 3-6months to get back to full fitness.
Apparently Real Madrid want Upemecano, Guehi, and Konate all on frees in the summer. We should try and buy Guehi in January and then go for another CB after Konate leaves.
Yep, I don't understand how he attracts interest from top clubs.........having said that he is at BM at the mo.
we really lack pace at the moment. any links to a winger? I worry ghehi looks at us and thinks, I'll go elsewhere now
The funny thing is, in pre-season and the first few games, I thought we looked quicker than we had done since Mane and Mo were in their pomp. I don't think we've lost pace per se, so much as looking completely confused and, at times, static and bewildered.
Or he believes in himself and that he can come in and make a difference We've also got plenty of pace, we just don't use it.
I agree. Slot said earlier this year he likes quick players, hard workers and good decision makers. That's what he's bought, pretty much but as you say he's not using tactics that take speed into account. The build up is so slow and that doesn't suit the players we have.
The opposition often use a low block against us too (which they're entitled to do) meaning pace isn't that effective. Acceleration (and thought process) can be, not pace. The slow multiple touch build up play frustrates me though. Move the ball quicker, and if you're going to cross it then cross, you don't need seven touches and you don't need to try and beat your man. You certainly don't need to run to the byline, cut back, pass it to the next man only for the ball to end up back with the CBs again.
The biggest problem is the too slow passing at the back and the midfielders , not moving into space to bypass the press.
Yes. Slot started out making the plauers endlessly pass it about but emphasis on 1 and max 2 touch stuff. Thry eventually saw the opportunity and go quickly. They also wouldn't ****ing attack if in a lead which was very annoying. He had one or two key things win duels, spent back a work. I see none of any of this now. It is guys taking 5 touches. It is guys wandering off up the park expecting others carry the ball to them. Its a million miles from the side he started with and imo thats not personnel. it is the coaching. Close the gaps. Hold the lines, compress the play.
