Bristol City have the chance to get back into the playoff positions tomorrow evening.

Southampton sitting in 16th spot on 12 points many of those collected in draws.

Southampton have sold their allocation -Saints face Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Tuesday 21st October at 8pm. We have received a maximum allocation of 3,414 tickets. This game has now sold out.

I believe the game is going to be a sellout only a few tickets left.

This is going to be another tough game city need to start picking up points again at home-recently the home form has been poor. Get this right our away form we are still unbeaten and this would really cement a promotion push going forward,

Bristol City missed out on promotion via the playoffs in 2024-25 under Liam Manning, but they are pushing for another chance at reaching the top flight with Gerhard Struber at the helm.
The former Red Bull Salzburg head coach took charge in the summer, and has overseen four wins, four draws and two defeats in the Championship so far.
On Saturday, the Robins bounced back from their 2-1 defeat against Queens Park Rangers by earning all three points in a 1-0 victory on the road to Norwich City, the team that Manning now manages.
That triumph has Struber's side seventh in the table, where their tally of 16 points puts them just one point shy of sixth-placed Millwall, fifth-placed West Bromwich Albion and fourth-placed Leicester City.
Another victory could see them make the jump into the top six, though given that Bristol City have won only one of their last five clashes at Ashton Gate (two losses and two draws), they will need to defy their home form to achieve it.

Meanwhile, it would be fair to say that Will Still has made Southampton into a resilient team since taking over after their relegation from the Premier League, but an excessive number of draws has stifled their ambitions.
Most recently, the Saints followed up their 1-1 stalemate with Derby County prior to the international break with another draw, this time a 0-0 against Swansea City at the weekend.
That latest tie was Still's men's sixth of the campaign, and placed them 16th in the second tier with 12 points, an equal five above the relegation zone and five behind the playoff spots.
Dropping two points on Saturday also means that Southampton have won just one of their last eight fixtures across all competitions, drawing four and losing two.
The manager has expressed his opinion that the Saints are missing out on victories due to fine margins, and considering that the visitors have only lost once on the road this season, as well as the fact that they have scored in every one of their away games - including against Liverpool at Anfield - they could see Tuesday as a prime opportunity to earn a rare win.

“Bristol City will sense a real opportunity to get back-to-back wins on Tuesday night. Struber’s side are making a case for a top-six finish, but their home form could be improved.

“The Robins haven’t won in their last three games at Ashton Gate, and with Southampton struggling to hit form, they must take advantage.

“Will Still has to turn these draws into wins, and he will be disappointed not to beat Swansea last weekend. Southampton will equally feel they have a chance to get three points midweek.

“I think the Saints’ fortunes must change at some point, and I will back them to beat Bristol City. It will be a close game, but a goal should be enough to earn them their third victory of the season.”

“Southampton’s struggles – especially in front of goal – have been a bit alarming.

“I think some early criticism of Still’s tactics has been justified. However, last season was so damaging for the Saints, and I think the opening games of this campaign have shown it might take a little while before we see these players performing at full tilt.

“That should give Bristol City hope of getting a result, though their form has been more patchy too. The weekend win over Norwich City should boost spirits a bit, but I think these two might have to settle for a share of the spoils here.”

Prediction: Bristol City 1-1 Southampton

 

This should be a tough match as Southampton can generally produce a competitive squad no matter what. When I was living in Andover in the late 60's/early 70's I weent to Ashton Gate to see Soton play City in the FA Cup and we won 1-0 if my memory is correct and although that was a great result the trip home, where all the other passengers were opposition supporters, was testy but friendly, and I believe the coach lost use of it's windscreen wipers somewhere travelling just outside of Bristol and our arrival back at base was around 4 hours late. Perhaps the same result might go our way tomorrow night but we will have to be way more forceful and committed if we want all 3 points - and we do don't we?

 

I believe Vyner is one card away from a ban, is that correct ?

I’m sorry, I’m trying to give Twine the benefit of the doubt, but again, he’s poor so far tonight. He loses the ball far too often and our attacks break down. He’s just not good enough.

Watching the HT analysis, they highlight that Anis is the only one gambling when he makes the run for his goal, which he does a lot. Yes, he’s frustrating, but without him we don’t really look like scoring in the last few games. Right now he’s our most creative and probably influential player.
