    Thoughts.

    1. We bought two attacking full backs. Why? Clearly slot doesnt want to use them.

    2. We have cms but slow wants them to run forward and vacate the middle hoping full backs might take up the slack.

    Why?

I dont get the changes made personally.

Why not be simply playing 433 and smash on those full backs to terrorise teams while you park two cms to destroy and cover the action.

    Mama
    Bradley Konate Vvd Robertson
    Grav Jones
    Frimpong Wirtz Elitike
    Isak

Let Frimpong do up and down and stay super wide as an option and allow him to help out Bradley. Essentially let them both just do a job on that right hand side

Give Wirtz the ball up high. Just let him find pockets and allow him and Ekitike to just drift around

salah needs a rest. Whether it’s to is game or next, but if resting him have to do something different as have no one else to play same way.

Wirtz Isak have to be the future for next 4 years. Even if not being Great they are the long term future of the club alongside Ekitike so find a way to play them and let them build an understanding with each other.

My point is you said we are creating a few chances and not very good ones.

Thats just wrong. As mentioned, Salah missed 2 sitters. Gakpo missed a sitter. Isak missed a 1v1.

How many more clear cut chances do you want in a game, take 2 of those before United score an 2nd and its game over.

The thing is, the players we brought in are all top quality players. In the internationals, Salah and Gakpo scored, Sbozo scored and Wirtz was reasonable in his game. Isak is still off the pace as you would expect given his lack of preseason.
The players we kept from last season are good players, so there are many theories out there on why we are losing these games. Let’s see what happens against Frankfurt. I don’t think we have lost five games in a row since the 1950s. I keep hoping we will turn a corner but hopefully it will be in midweek. Sbozo has to play in midfield though

I have always been of the view that we’ve changed a lot, this is going to take time. I still am.

However, this does not stop me being concerned about how easily we are carved open and at how disjointed we look.

I expect us to shore it up in the short term and gradually be more expansive - I want balance more than I want a win tbh

I think part of the problem is the fact that we brought in top players. They are top players because they have played in teams that play to their strengths. Slot just doesn't seem to know where to play who.

Ekitike was on fire and then dropped for Isak who can only improve by playing and therein lies the problem - dropping the in form player for the player who needs minutes when they both play the same position. Wirtz hasn't shown anywhere near his best yet but you can see that he's on another level in terms of game intelligence. I've seen calls for the team to be built around Ekitike and Wirtz and I'm thinking that isn't a bad shout.

Two more things to ponder - why does Gakpo refuse to pass to Kerkez and what does Chiesa have to do to get a start?

Playing Soz at RB ain't the answer either. How's Frimpong going to get up to speed and grow into this team with how we play if his confidence is shot by a midfielder being picked over him at the expense of ruining the midfield set up.
Yes the players who missed their chances have to shoulder the blame but so does Arne wth his mad tactics.

Of course. They told Isak to fluff a one-on-one with the keeper too <whistle>

Gakpo did his job perfectly hitting the post three times as well :emoticon-0165-muscl

I still think Ekitike would have kept his place against Palace in the starting line-up had he not had a brain fart against Soton.

    Ehhhhhh

    Lfc 0 man utd 1 2mins.
    Chelsea 1 lfc 0 14mins
    Galatasaray 1 lfc 0 16mins
    Palace 1 lfc 0 9mins

That's the point. That's the pattern.

Ifs buts and maybes on shot hammered at goal that hit the woodwork are all fine but again utd are ****ing bang average.

Those ifs and buts ignore utd chances also.

We.are leaking like a sieve and seeing sides sit back and counter.

We now have the just as worrying trned of concedingmanktjer after equalising like.as.if any side tries.a bit more and get.joy

If these patterns don't change someone is going to absolutely go through us like a dose of salts

    Radical thought.

    Play fullbacks as full backs.

Play a 433 amd keep two cms in the midfield not opposition box.

I know its radical but playing football might just work here.

The get.joy should have read 'gets joy'.

Anyway, I didn't tell you what grade I got in my Mitoese A level <whistle>
