Football is gradually eating itself, our Premier League prices were pretty steep at the time and we're still fleecing away fans in particular. I know several Millwall fans moaning about our away ticket prices, I think the 'twenty is plenty' idea has long bit the dust...
I live close so went to the QPR Womens game at Cambridge today. Kids free, adults a fiver, over 1,000 attendance. Kids happy to see a game, parents happy for a cheap day out. A world of difference from the Premier League but a nice stress free day out for all. (We won 3-1, I'm not Clive, this is as good a report as you're going to get).
I’m hoping Joey Barton makes the Glasgow Rangers manager shortlist, now even Gerrard has turned them down.. They deserve each other.
The Norwegian Manager sent Haaland and other players who have been playing CL games, home the day after the Israel game, saying they needed a rest rather than playing NZ. Shame for the people who had already bought tickets.
Interesting happening in Spain tonight.... in the game between Oviedo and Espanyol the referee blew the whistle to start the game and both sets of players simply stood around not moving for some 30 seconds in protest against the decision to have a game played abroad..... What's more though is that the TV coverage censured the protest and only began coverage after the protest finished.....
Power to the players, the TV companies don't give a toss about the supporters but if the players start making waves perhaps the balance will swing the other way...
Interesting if slightly depressing article on English development football - Dom Ball used as an example of how to succeed https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...th-players-whose-clubs-see-no-future-for-them
Sean Dyche pronounced Dick about to jump on the Forest roundabout. He would have been manager of Real Madrid or PSG if he wasn’t English, according to him.
Hr's dodged a bullet there - was also in the running for the Rangers job. That's quickly becoming the biggest comedy show in town, just ahead of the Celtic meltdown
Further to this, all games over the weekend had the same protest including Barcelona and Villareal, the 2 teams involved in the scheduled game in Miami...... but still La Liga think it's ok to move a game abroad to "grow the game".... what bollox.... Now they need to increase the protest to say 5 minutes, then 10 minutes... would be interesting to see how the TV companies react to that....
Nice little earner for Dyche, 6 months or so if he's lucky then a fat payoff when Marinakis blows him out for Marco Silva...
Lovely gig and I think he lives fairly local. Started at Forest and played most of his career at Chesterfield. They should have more than enough to stay up, cheeky bonus for avoiding relegation, crack on next year. He’s not a bad manager at all IMO and a good appointment with the obvious caveat Marinakis could end up doing anything.
Would be interesting. In theory, if they banded together, they’d be in breach of contract but no club is going to take legal action against their entire squad. If one or two refuse you could see them being made an example of and I doubt every player is all that against it especially if there’s a few quid in it for them. Worse places to go for a few days.
