…. My last day at work is done.
I have been extremely lucky - after 20 years working in a fantastic company I’ve been made redundant - 18 months before I planned to retire anyway. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse.
I’m so fortunate that I loved my job - my colleagues and the firm looked after me brilliantly. I was very emotional, but it was absolutely the right thing to do.
Life has dealt me a great hand of cards - I just need to play them right.
I’ve now joined the ranks of the retired.
Pray for me boys - Mrs R&W is already waiting for me to get home with a list of jobs……..

Enjoy mucker - more time to go to away games and stay over now!! I’m very envious, I’m only 53, so miles away from retirement.

Said to wife the other day, I'm 60 now only 5 years until I retire.
Went well, apparently I have to work until I'm at least 70.
As a city supporter not sure I have that much time left.

I continued working till I was 73 enjoyed every minute off it but glad when I "stopped" life is an amazing thing if you stop ...... YOU stop! I do on average 25 + hours a week manual work ALLOTMENTS AND HOBBY... yep hobby means twice a week now used to be 5!!! hauling 20+kgs of mud for an hour or so!!!! Drive to the pub so limit intake to less than 4 pints ... the same pub I used to go 55 years ago and consume 12 - 15 pints a night and then go exploring the delights below Mendip around 10 am make the pub for a couple or 3 pints dinner time then off exploring or ????? till 7pm for a couple pints or three before going home to the XYL .........!!!
i started my hobby in September 1960 AND STILL MANAGE ............just about!

I will get some schtick for these comments but I fail to understand the daily need to consume massive amounts of alcoholic beverages in order to actually have a life. During my winters in the Canaries each and every day my fellow travellers (all from the U.K.) had a meeting to discuss where they could find the cheapest beer for their daily consumption and when they discovered they coulld get it delivered they gave a collective hallelujah chorus. Most of these people are probably still standing but remembering the conditiion in which most of these lovely folk spent their days in the sun makes me ask who is right because not being an even moderate drinker my health at retirement and after iis a total daily nightmare, so thank goodness for legal THC vapes to ease the pain. The horrible medications thrust on me by doctors has been a journey to hell and althogh my mental fortitude is my best strength the days generally just suck. This nightmare started almost 20 years ago and the time in between has been as unpleasant as it can get and regrettably I have been told by the medical profession that I am healthy for 81 but I have a non-specific chronic long-term pain issue for which nothing can be done, but on a positive note I didn't get the one that will kill you but rather it's intimate friend in the one that takes every day life away from you. Thankfully Ann and I travelled all over the world during those transition yeas and will never regret those decisions but today, apart from the discomfort issues during the trip, the medical insurance would cost more than the cost of the vacation.

Our 60th wedding anniversary is on the 23rd and I was so hoping that we could go away for a special memory but due to the daily offerings with my situation it probably isn't possible but I will see if we can go somewhere on our beautiful island such as Tofino. Take care guys and do whatever takes your personal fantasies in your individual retirement years and use that time wisely and successfully. Stay calm and mind the gap. :emoticon-0128-hi:
