Frank needs to be quicker with his changes. Bergvall and RKM must have been stood on the touchline for 10 mins. No idea what he was waiting for.
Badly missed Romero too, his aggression and closing down is infectious, every chance we could’ve prevented that second if he weren’t injured.
Played well in parts and dominated but couldn’t get that second goal when on top. Still need some proper quality up top and on the left. Tel, Odobert and Xavi don’t really excite me at all.
Sarr and Brennan coming on now. Just throwing everything we have at the problem, but I feel that the solutions are currently injured.
We don't create enough chances when dominating. Martinez has hardly had anything to do all day. But the root of the problem is that our best three attackers are injured.
We also sold the other and didn’t replace him. Only real sour point of the summer window for me that. Son to Odobert is as bad a drop as Kane to Richarlison.
Certain games are more significant than others. Winning today was more important than the fixture looked on paper. I fear that Frank set us up not to lose, far too defensively. And it has back-fired. Hopefully he learn a from this.
It’s too early to make the call on them, IMO. Neither of them (and Odobert) have had enough game time. But we need to start seeing more from all 3. the thing that concerns me the most is that there doesn’t seem to be a “click” between any of our forwards. It’s often like they’ve never played with one another.
Tel and Odobert just aren’t good enough at the moment, that I’d say is a fact. Both should’ve been loaned out this season. Xavi, on paper, was a very exciting signing. But Bundesliga attacking mids/ wide forwards have badly flopped in the Prem over the last 10 or so years and he’s not doing much to dispel that notion at the moment.
I don’t think it was too defensive. Just couldn’t score when on top and run out of puff in the latter stages of both halves
