I think - understandably - the pressure is starting to get to Oscar. Trailing Norris home would have only cost him a point, but he made a risky move trying to flip that round. He’s lucky the consequence was to also take Norris out or otherwise it probably would have cost him 6-7 points.
I wonder if Zac's reaction was partly to cover his backside re Papaya rules and Lando's rest of the season consequences. i.e. If Zac had publicly said it was Oscar's fault then he would have faced, I assume, harsh consequences or Lando would be furious.
McLaren have contributed to the pressure Oscar feels in my opinion, at some point I think they’re going to have to acknowledge they’re not as smart as they think they are and let go of the reins. If not I fear this could spiral out of control.
That’s a huge result for Max, Oscar has a real tricky race on his hands tomorrow and Norris trailing Verstappen home in the race would probably ramp the pressure up more than any other result. Obviously it could all go differently tomorrow, but I think he’ll sleep well tonight.
Its not on the BBC or AUTOSPORT yet , but THE RACE ( according to the Cadillac ) say that ZAC has said to SKY ️ Zak Brown speaking to Sky: "I've reviewed it I think I've changed my view, I can't really put that on Nico. In the heat of the moment obviously pretty bothered with what I saw there, a lot of incidents there in Turn 1, but I don't think that's on Nico."
I still can’t see it. What happened yesterday needed to happen in a full race in my opinion. The fact that McLaren seemed to have slipped back more than RedBull leaping forward does open up other possibilities, but I still don’t see how he’s going to average the 10 points a race he needs.
I really really really don’t want him to , but I think he will . And IF he does , I can’t honestly say he doesn’t deserve it . There was a time when I would never EVER have said that .
If Max does it, it's probably the most impressive comeback in the history of the championship? Still seems unlikely but if anyone can do it.... Grudging respect is very apt.
