Yeah, it's like, if we hadn't scored goals we'd have lost games. But we did score goals so we're not bottom.
What’s wrong with that. It’s possibly goal of the season. If it wasn’t for him we would be in serious trouble. 4/5 players are playing shocking bad at present.
Yep. Ultimataly it's about results. Luckily it's still fairly early in the season - partly due to all these dumb international breaks - so still time to turn things around. But we do need to string some results together.
Well at least you're only taking us out of Europe, GG is making some reimagined plan of the season where we're bottom now. The here and now is a nice place to be.
I don't recall ever arguing with you about how good the goal was. I can't agree or disagree that is or isn't the goal of the season cos a) I haven't seen it, and b) there are still 30 games to be played where potentially better goals could be scored.
It's been a poor start to the season in anyone's book, the performances have reflected the results for the most part, we've been poor and only beaten teams in the current bottom 3. The same old problems persist, hopeless at set pieces, we've got two of the best passers in the league in midfield yet we can't keep possession, control games or dictate tempo, we are so sloppy with basic passing it's criminal. Trippier is finished and Burn isn't a left back. Elanga and Gordon have been quite frankly awful. Danny ****ing Welbeck should not be scoring this many goals against us, he's ****ing **** and it says more about us than him. Same old problems don't seem to be getting addressed and it's becoming a real concern.
OK, genuine question for GG. What do you think the team (or more specifically, Howe) should do differently for the next match? I don't mean simple stuff like "win" or "play better", or "create more chances", etc. But in real terms of say, player selection (of those available), formation, tactics... What would you actually change in practical terms and how? And not by any means having a "go" mate, just genuinely intrigued to know what you would suggest differently, that you think Howe is getting wrong.
Ok. Take Joelinton and Elanga out. They are not performing right now. I would also put Hall in at left back if he is fit enough. We go higher line at the back with the wing backs higher but the centre backs deeper. The flat 3 across midfield doesn’t work. So I would go Miley and Tonali in the deep 2 midfield and Bruno more advanced. Then I would go with Gordon wide left and Murphy wide right. The emphasis is about moving the ball fast and not slow to the wings. And the ball comes in early doors. Then the front players push fast.
This is slight improvement from your previous "lump the ball forward" recommendation, but still doesn't address the fundamental problem that both our first choice fullbacks are injured.
