I've said it again and again. Draws this season are two points dropped, not one point gained. It's yet another poor result. First half was very good. But again I don't understand Still's substitutions, both in terms of personnel and timing. When you've got an elite bench (for this level), you need to utilise it so much better than we do.
I felt the same as you, during the game: “How aren’t we winning this?” But on reflection, all our chances were just scrappy half-chances. Not once did we attempt a through ball, on the ground, through the middle. It’s because we had seven defensive players, and our only creative players are stuck out wide or on the bench.
Was thinking on the walk home about how after the Wrexham game there were lots of comments about how nice it was to leave St Marys after a win with all the fans happy. Who'd have thought we'd be waiting until November for the next one.
Agree that it was a lot of half chances, still should have put a couple away though. We need to get Azaz in the team imo. He was brought in to be that creative player in the final third and that's such a pressing need now Ross is injured.
I agree to a certain degree, but he didn’t and the final 10/15mins was Sunday league. No one knew what they were doing. We had two lines of 5 and no one in between. Lost. A good coach would practise and have tactics for those moments. Not, let’s play the same then realise there is no one to play the ball too
Will Still missed a trick today. If only he had put Downs on in the second half, everyone else would have escaped criticism. Everything that went wrong today would have been Down’s fault. Just shows, he’s not the problem with scoring goals. Our experienced strikers showed him how to really miss the target.
Scienza had their RB on toast in the first half. Yet he barely went up against him once in the second half. Started off that half far too centrally, and then got shifted out to the right when Archer came off. And actually, I thought the Archer sub was a real turning point - because it lead to Armstrong yet again moving centrally. I don't know how many times Still has to try it until he finally accepts it doesn't work. Azaz and Fellows should have come on far earlier. And maybe we should have sacrificed a CB at some point.
Should have, yes. Not denying we were unlucky. But, with an extra attacker or two on the pitch, we’re more likely to finish those chances, and create more. Agree about Azaz. And what the hell happened to Matsuki? Bizarre what’s going on at the club right now tbh.
Just read Still's post match comments. **** off Will. If you think the second half was good we really are ****ed.
Cheers. ****ing hell that's awful Interesting that the commentator makes the same point as Brendy about swapping Scienza.
When your local pub starts serving up rubbish, it is time to switch pubs. Perhaps support an up and coming non-League team like AFC Totton if you live in the área, or in Lincs's case, Lincoln City!!
Like others here, I feel like I watched a different game to some of you whinge bags. First 30 were pretty poor and we took a while to get going but from then on it was complete domination. Swansea offered absolutely nothing and we created enough to win comfortably. How Still can be held accountable for missing all of the those chances is beyond me. Scienza was electric today particularly and Jander looks insanely good for this level. We all know we need a proper number 9 and until we get one we aren't going to look a complete side.
Having gone out for a walk and thought about it, I still don't understand why Still didn't change shape at HT, let alone at all. 3 CB's at home to Swansea? Complete overkill. He still doesn't know what his best team or shape is and he's had two international breaks to try and figure things out and nothing has changed. He's not getting anywhere near what he should be getting out of Azaz, Fellows or Archer. He's also threatening to sound a lot like Martin when he bangs on about xG. Honestly, if Danny Rohl gives any indication he would take the job, make the change.
Yeah I’m struggling to recall many “proper” saves by their keeper. Apart from the 2x post scrambles, there wasn’t much else. Maybe I missed or can’t remember more but it wasn’t great.
Armstrong put two clear chances straight at the keeper. Header from a corner too. 3 pretty clear cut chances in my eyes. Let alone hitting the post twice, the 2 snatched chances and the Jander follow up.
Felt for Jander who was wrong footed but still got there. 9/10 times hitting the inside of a post goes in - VERY small margins imho
