Great place for socialising, but the student accommodation is in some of the less desirable parts, particularly Rusholme. We've barely heard from our daughter - although she's only been there 9 days so far! (plus a fortnight in September for Opportunity Oxford (an introductory period for kids from the wrong postcode, who went to a state school)). We can track her on the Live 360 app, which reassures us she is alive and safe, although equally concerns us when she is leaving pubs and nightclubs at 2.00am or later - which seems to most days so far!
The British Library has reinstated Oscar Wilde’s library card 130 years after it was revoked in 1895 following his conviction for gross indecency (I.e homosexuality). Unless he is Dorian Gray, he won’t get to use it though.
So she’s off to Indie night at O2 Oxford with her adoptive Uni parents and sisters (Oxford have this tradition of 2nd year students “adopting” 1st years and taking them out). Then off drinking with the Northern Soc. I don’t know how she’ll cope as she doesn’t drink bitter or stout, but it’s in Wetherspoons (The Four Candles) so that’s OK then Tomorrow is Matriculation. All the subfusc has been acquired . Apparently this involves more drinking and then punting But I ask again - when do they do any f***ing work?
