…. My last day at work is done. I have been extremely lucky - after 20 years working in a fantastic company I’ve been made redundant - 18 months before I planned to retire anyway. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse. I’m so fortunate that I loved my job - my colleagues and the firm looked after me brilliantly. I was very emotional, but it was absolutely the right thing to do. Life has dealt me a great hand of cards - I just need to play them right. I’ve now joined the ranks of the retired. Pray for me boys - Mrs R&W is already waiting for me to get home with a list of jobs……..
Well deserved, I’m very happy for you and I hope to be joining you as retired in 5 months time Try and fill your time and only drink in the evenings
Enjoy mucker - more time to go to away games and stay over now!! I’m very envious, I’m only 53, so miles away from retirement.
I'm a long time retiree, and very lucky to be older, balder, fatter, hairy in wrong places but have indulged and still lucky enough looking forward to outlasting Starmer, I pray, So glad you have ended up a satisfied man, enjoy your life, health, wife, family, friends, like me your music and continue to prosper.
And me I do try and have 2-3 dry days a week It’s not easy, and it doesn’t always work out, but I try !
Said to wife the other day, I'm 60 now only 5 years until I retire. Went well, apparently I have to work until I'm at least 70. As a city supporter not sure I have that much time left.
I continued working till I was 73 enjoyed every minute off it but glad when I "stopped" life is an amazing thing if you stop ...... YOU stop! I do on average 25 + hours a week manual work ALLOTMENTS AND HOBBY... yep hobby means twice a week now used to be 5!!! hauling 20+kgs of mud for an hour or so!!!! Drive to the pub so limit intake to less than 4 pints ... the same pub I used to go 55 years ago and consume 12 - 15 pints a night and then go exploring the delights below Mendip around 10 am make the pub for a couple or 3 pints dinner time then off exploring or ????? till 7pm for a couple pints or three before going home to the XYL .........!!! i started my hobby in September 1960 AND STILL MANAGE ............just about!
