Council tax isn't cheaper. Even within Durham itself, people in lower economic areas like Horden and Peterlee pay more in council tax than more affluent areas like around Durham city centre. That's bonkers!

I read somewhere that council tax is going up 4.99% in Durham. I paid £1200 in April for this years, so I make that an extra £60 per year, £5 per month. If we can get better services, then I’d be more than happy to chip in an extra £5 each month. I don’t think £5 per month is going to ruin anybody, let’s be realistic.

'Spoons.....very often less than £2.50 a pint. Mind you....it's 'Spoons.....in my experience,it's often worth paying double to avoid!

I wouldn’t profess to know the inner workings of Brexit though obviously the Tories were in power so they could have perhaps done more. May, whether you like her politics or not, was a decent person but it was up to 400k a year on her watch. All I know was the consensus of experts told us that Brexit would make immigration a lot worse. They were right. Moving forward this government inherited an absolute mess not of their making but it has recruited hundreds of border force workers to try and clear the backlog in an attempt to get on top of the problem.
I passed the one on North Road in Durham yesterday. I wouldn’t drink there for free judging by the clientele that was hanging around smoking their tabs and vapes outside
Yep,I was born and raised in Consett,.....so I know rough.....but some of these Spoons venues raise the bar!
Was told spoons pulled the plug on that one marra last year,still has the same spoons vibe inside, aye and you’re right the clientele is a bit different
