Looks like they've done more clearing of the ground under the bridge as well, wonder if they found the ball my idiot dog dropped over the side there on the open day.

Great news, I booked my train to Sunderland which is an early one …

… that means I’ll be able to see it from the train then walk back over it for the match <cheers>

Looking forward to walking across the bridge next week.
I usually park at Millfield, so it will make my walk a lot shorter and deliver me to the SWC where I sit.
    Looks fantastic!

Heartening to see a bridge like this is causing a nice stir. Even in these times of multi billionaires and big business a thing like a new bridge should be celebrated in my humble opinion.

There’s something incredibly symbolic about a new bridge …

… quite right that they should be celebrated.

Aye, it’s not often something is built in your lifetime that should last many lifetimes over.

Some things are just right. Often they are unremarkable things, such as a footbridge.

But it's not just a bridge. It's another step. Another move forward. More momentum, and sometimes there comes a point when momentum like this generates it's own energy, when things start happening that seemed stupid to suggest not long back.

I don't think that Sunderland is far off that point right now. And what a thing it is to see.

Right. So often I've thought that often people don't realize how good Sunderland is. Or at least in comparison to a great many other places. It might be becoming harder to miss that now.

I can't wait to have a pint in the Peacock and then walk over the bridge to the Stadium. Game changer.

    Well put mate.

All these improvements will lead to people spending more time in Sunderland, which will lead to more improvements, which will lead to more people coming into the town, which will...

    Yep. All very thoughtfully done.

You rarely see this. It's either a slow, little resisted decline, or a one off "Hail Mary" big building or single development.

This never works, ever. But the steady, multi faceted approach Sunderland has taken is giving it a chance barely imaginable only a few years ago.

    Others will see this.

My train only stops at Morpeth mate, into NCL at 10.20 ...

... let me know if that's any good and I'll meet you there.
