league cup mate, doesn’t count <laugh>

Actually just seeen the Wales highlights from yesterday. Get Perri in… or better still the skinny French lad who used to play for us.

I’m not convinced on the new guy either. His distribution is poor (despite ELL’s post) and for the size of the bloke he doesn’t seem to command his box for corners and crosses (though I think that’s an issue with many foreign keepers, possibly because of the type of football played elsewhere).

That’s fair enough. Can’t say I remember any saves but he would’ve had saves to make and don’t remember thinking he looked terrible so think it’s a bit recency bias with Darlow and if you’re Perri you’d probably be asking why a keeper with zero clean sheets gets in over you. I think the game against Arsenal can be written off as everyone had an off day. Darlow has done well but still has a mistake in him with Sheff Wed. You could say unlucky deflections but the first goal especially Darlow has enough time to get a stronger hand on it. I won’t be unhappy if Darlow starts, like you said he’s made some good saves and that but I’d say the biggest questions that I’d be thinking (and I think Farke will too) about selection wise would be Darlow or Perri & Struijk or Bijol because the rest of the team have fully earned there places.

Darlow had no chance with the second deflection, the first one I agree looks in the 'could have saved' category. Deflections are really difficult because you're already reacting to the initial shot so it's hard to adjust and the deflction puts spin on the ball which effects it's flight in an unpredicatable manner. You could say at that distance he had time to react though it was smashed. Any worse than Perri not getting a hand up for Saka's goal?

Having said all that, Sheff Wed goal was a howler from lack of concentration, i thought he might have done better with Belgium's second the other night, though it was thumped.
