I'm looking forward to this one, I have a few Wednesday mates and these would always be a cracking booze in the past. I have always liked Wednesday, a cracking ground and from the mid 80's there has been a healthy exchange of players to either side. Who can ever forget Peter Shirtliff Anyway, our home record is strong, as is our defence, if ever there was a game that needs Kelman to put the ball in the net then it is this Saturday. Defensively this lot are shocking, particularly at home. Anything but a win will be very disappointing.
Our record against bottom 6 teams is 7 points from a possible 9. If it does not become 10 from a possible 12 there should be questions asked. We're doing OK but our second tier status is a long way from being assured. We need to be winning this one. If Kelman and/or TC don't score or assist it will be a poor show for them.
It’s a funny old game - always a banana skin when you start to expect to win or want questions asked if we don’t - with this one we need to push from the start and keep the pressure on - I’m sure they’re thinking the same - if we have another poor first 20 minutes it’ll be a tough one
November’s fixtures look daunting - I think beating a decimated team of Wednesday kids at home is a must.
Sorry I was being thick, I didn’t realise you were talking about ex Sheff Wed players. Doh. I once played in a Charity Football match that was refereed by Lawrie Madden. Commentator was Jimmy Saviles brother. It was against an Undertakers eleven.
Nathan Jones’ Press Conference today. I hope he is asked about Godden. A couple of weeks ago Matty told fans at the club’s Golf day that he was two weeks from playing again …those two weeks are up. I know this is Charlton, where a nosebleed often sees a player go missing for six months, but the initial “out for 6 weeks” explanation in early August no longer washes.
He has had further problems with his knee. Had fluid drained from it a couple of weeks ago. I don’t think we will see him for a while.
It's our only home game of the month, what with the international break and our run of 5 away games out of 7, and I've got withdrawal symptoms. Wednesday have sold out their allocation and according to CL are planning a protest against their owner. NJ doesn't give much away about players' fitness so don’t expect to learn much about how the Jamaicans are. I hope to have a swift half in the Rose of Denmark first.
The landlord has been hanging on for you £2.25 all week. please God we are not starting Kelman & Campbell again up front, it’s time to try something different.
Such is the need for points on the board I’m expecting a win. Nothing is guaranteed of course but I expect Jones to target games like this and really go for it. Am l expecting too much from NJ? I’m going for a 2-1 win….hanging on at the death!
