Thanks Toast, a great summary of the reality of the situation. I'm banking on his genetics! I've been in a similar situation to you way "back in the day" and as you say, there is only so much you can do, and it's obvious very quickly when high quality players, however old and fat they may now be, are on the pitch. I also, when not so young, in my mid 30s but still playing, played 30 of a 30/30/30 pre-season exhibition match against the then MLS Champs, DC United who were in training camp where I live. Honestly like chasing 11 Usain Bolts around the pitch with speed, touch, positioning and thinking ahead. I was totally utterly ****ed after that 30!
That in his hand is a canula Fred, you don't have to go under to have one of those in. They put 'em in if you need hydrating, blood transfusions, morphine and any other drugs. Them ****ers have left me with bruises all over my arms and hands whenever i've been in hospital. Luckily they don't hurt going in or coming out.
They can hurt sometimes, not long back the guy (nurse doctor trainee??) made the critical mistake of looking and saying oh my what good veins you have. As he approached me for the third attempt he was shaking like a leaf, I suggested he take a break and come back later or find someone else to do it.
The only time I can remember one hurting was when a Doctor was putting one in or trying his best too. It was four in the morning time, I was knackered, i'm pretty sure he was knackered and by the next day you couldn't see the back of my left hand for a black bruise, it was frigging huge and hurt like a twat.
Just watched the highlights of the Crewe game, some good goals and movement going forward. It looked from the highlights them scoring first was against the run of play, was that the case?
